Pierogi Night in Canada

Ever notice how the smell, sight, or taste of a certain food or indulgence brings on a sense of nostalgia? Taking you back to a fond place and time with family, friends, and memories over a heart-warming meal. Here, we share favorites with you through food, facts, and lore. We start by sourcing the best quality produce right here in Lunenburg County (local sauerkrauts, jams and pies too) from our near neighbours. Then with a little help from the pantry and not too much effort we'll enjoy: potato dumplings (pierogi), stuffed peppers or cabbages, latkes and traditional family classics during our dining experience. All the preparatory work is done for you to begin, mise-en-place. We recreate my grandparent's celebratory feast using traditional methods and the farm-to-table approach, geared to take hours instead of a few days. On our end Lithuanian partisans, Soviet exile and migration to Canada follow as we stuff ourselves silly before wrap up and farewells. Hope to have you over soon at our nature's nest, garden and nearby historic venues. A very warm welcome to Nova Scotia's South Shore, Robert & Candice Kernoghan * Mid-May through October we start off at the very nearby New Germany Farmer's Market. Tashi Delek and Greetings! My Name is Phurbu Dolma and it is my honor to teach you about Tibetan food! It is my goal to preserve Tibetan culture and share the flavors of Tibet with you. (PLEASE MINIMUM INITIAL BOOKING 2 OR MORE PERSONS) In this class you will learn the Tibetan popular dish called Momo (dumpling), while here in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. We offer Vegetarian and non-Vegetarian Momo making experiences! Momos made with local greens and vegetables, or free range, natural local meats, and always organic flour. I will serve beverages like Tibetan tea or Chai, or lemonade. I’ll teach you to prepare the momo dough wrappers, then we will wash, chop and spice the ingredients for filling the momos. You will learn to make two or three different traditional ways to design the momo. Depending on the season and availability we will decide the appropriate Tibetan sides, soup, or salad. Of course, we will make Tibetan’s favorite! Sepen, Tibetan chili sauce, made from my home grown chilies and herbs. We will steam the momos and you will enjoy a feast!

Sushi Roll Cooking Class with a Professional Chef

Come and learn how to spread, layer, tuck and roll your way to sushi heaven. In this fun, hands-on, social cooking class you’ll practice all the skills needed to make sushi rolls at home. You'll start by learning how to prepare and season sushi rice, select sushi-grade fish, and add additional tasty vegetables and other ingredients to enhance the deliciousness of your sushi. During class you will make 3 traditional rolls: Salmon roll, Veggie roll, and a Shrimp Tempura roll. No experience is required! All equipment and ingredients will be provided. Our events are casual and meant to be fun, relaxing and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting. Waterfalls Waterfalls Waterfalls

After picking you up at your downtown core Toronto Airbnb, or other convenient location, we will start your adventure to Niagara Falls. Along the way we will stop at picturesque waterfalls, an iconic Canadian cafe chain, and an award-winning winery. During short walks along tree lined paths at these smaller falls, you’ll learn about the geology of the area followed by a stop at a coffee shop chain that has become part of the Canadian identity. Then, we’ll hop in the car and continue to Niagara's wine region, where we will stop for a tasting (including ICE wine) at one of Niagara Regions most award-winning wineries. After a delicious sit-down lunch, we go to the world-famous Niagara Falls where you will bathe in the mist from the Falls as we walk along the rim of the Niagara Gorge. We will have more than enough time for guests to participate in one of these optional self-led activities: the historic Niagara Boat Cruise (April to November) or The Journey Behind the Falls when the boat is not available (December to April) Following our visit to the upper edge of the mighty Horseshoe Falls we will return direct to Toronto. If you do not see a preferred date on the calendar, please request a date that is suitable for you and your group. Feel free to ASK me any questions. Gelato Tasting & Gelato Production Tour

Death in Venice Gelato is Toronto’s award winning best gelateria. I am the owner and the gelato maker of this unique gelato shop. The experience is a 16 course gelato tasting with a visit to the gelato lab where all the creative flavours are tested & produced. During the tour I will explain the differences between Icecream & gelato , the science behind gelato, production of gelato and the history behind the company. My unique back ground of being a chemical engineer and a chef will give you a unique perspective of the art of gelato. We have flavours that are seasonal and creative. Flavours such as smoked chocolate and bourbon, cheeseboard, Thai ice tea, pistachio baklava, coconut lemon cream Pai, peanut butter and croissants etc… are among many you may taste.. we are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions. Artisan Sourdough Bread Workshop

After arrival and introductions, we'll start the process by showing you how to properly slash your dough and get it into the oven. this will allow our first loaves to bake and cool in time for sampling, because who wants to attend a sourdough class and not get to eat any of it? :) Next, we'll begin the process of mixing ingredients, going over the recipe and process. during the periods when the dough will be resting ill conduct a demonstration for a fun live cultured beverage, you can make at home or simply enjoy it during the baking class. Since there is so much time involved in producing a loaf, I'll be moving along with the steps as quickly as we can and spending most of the time between processes answering questions and explaining the why behind the techniques. classes typically last between 3-4 hours so light refreshments will be served throughout the class. You will leave class with, starter, instruction printout, a loaf of bread to bake the next and a bread proofing basket. Other things to note Let me know if you have any food allergies.

Coming to Rebec Vineyards the guests will get to experience an old world perspective of the art of winemaking. They will get to learn about the history of the winery and learn about the skill and attention that goes into making small batches of hand made specialty wines. Our special wine tasting includes 16-18 different wines, whites, sweets, dry red, something for any taste. We offer picnic boxes with variety of gourmet cheeses, meats, chocolates, crackers, and dry fruits. We always add some knowledges of food and wine comparing sets, including some history, legends and love stories.

Make your own Signature Cocktail with a Pro Bartender

First we'll have a little chat about cocktails. I want to know your experience and interest in the field. Are you a complete novice looking to make more informed cocktail choices? Are you a professional who wants to push their knowledge to the next level? Somewhere in between? This can take anywhere from 5-15 minutes, and will include a little context from my part about where the Old Fashioned comes from. I'll also make you an old fashioned so you can experience it from every sense! After a briefing on tools and ingredients, you make your own! You can either go off one of my recipes, or take my ingredients and get creative. This part can take anywhere from 15-45 minutes. Depending on experience I have a multitude of ingredients we can choose from, so you won't necessarily be limited to one. Lastly, we cheers! Everyone takes their original Old-Fashioned recipe, and we celebrate our new appreciation for a timeless classic.
