It is possible to visit national park of river Krka (near Šibenik) or you can book rafting or canoeing in river Cetina (near Omiš). If you are interested in history of Split I definitely suggest taking a touristic guide, who will show you the most interesting parts of the Diocletian palace and tell you how locals live and think. We own our 7 met speed boat and do excursions around islands. We also offer two bikes for rent, and cheap transfer from the airport.
