The ambiance is fascinating - fabulous views through large windows across green meadows and pine forests. From 10x40 covered porch listen to the Tularosa Creek running by the cabin year-round. A great quiet get-away where you can almost touch the stars and may see elk walking outside the window. There is wildlife and nature everywhere with direct access to the Gila Wilderness.

Shekinah Hermitage: Peace at the Forest’s Edge

Shekinah Hermitage is at 8000ft. overlooking the Cibola N. F. This unique cabin looks into a canyon to the north, and eastward over the San Agustin Plains. Surrounded by juniper and pinion trees, it is very remote. Windows all around give the feel of being outdoors but the solid structure is immovable in high winds. Inside is all you need including limited solar-battery 120V electricity. There is an attached bathroom with a sawdust composting toilet. Outside a high deck offers stunning views.

Sleep 2 in two twin beds, sleeps 2 more on blow up mattresses for kids, room for more outside in your own tents or RV's. The cabin is owned by a New Mexico Non-profit, The Poverty Creek Pines Conservancy, a 501c3.
