Mit fogunk csinálni?
This class is for everyone those who like to learn Japanese traditional color painting as an experience. You can learn Japanese traditional culture through classic style painting.
I provide postcards with outlines of traditional seasonal motifs, so you can practice painting with the postcard. Anyone can try this lesson, beginners and children, too, are very welcomed. After finished, you can take back your own work. All supplies are provided.
You pick up one painting motif---"Cherry blossom", "Pine tree", "Plum tree" and some monthly seasonal motifs.
Step by step, I will explain the materials and how to use them, ideas to express each motif as well as Japanese' unique perspective to see the nature world.
("Pine tree" will be a good motif to study Japan so that I'd like to recommend you. However, if you have another motif which you are interested in, please let me know in advance. I love to do that.)
This class is open to all with the aim of sharing knowledge and the essence of Japanese art.
If you would like a lesson at another time or date, please contact me. I am happy to oblige and am flexible. Tomoko
Other things to note
Chinese ink is hard to come off if it put on your cloth.
Color pigments take a while to come off.
You can use "Samue"(worker's kimono, apron)to cover up your dress.

We had such a special and wonderful time with Tomoko. It was great getting to know her and connecting. She taught us a lot about the culture and history in addition to teaching about how to do the art. What a special lesson! We really enjoyed the whole process. We could tell she really knows about it and is passionate about preserving the culture and art. This was a true highlight of our trip to Japan.

My niece and I truly enjoyed this painting class. It was great to take a break from the busy itinerary we had, and just be. We mixed our paints with our fingers, which made the class and final work that much more personal. Tomoko was very supportive, and in a short span of time was able to teach us basic, but no less impressive technique of Japanese brush painting. The location was also great, we combined shopping at Harajuku before lunch with the class in the afternoon. The brush painting class was one of the trip's highlights for us.
