We'll cover the history of flour milling in-depth and I'll clearly show how we got to the flour market available to us today. Then we'll delve into our current flour choices on the market and take a look at food labels from various markets together. I will also talk about the nutrition of flour and how to make choices that account for baking qualities + best nourishment. My goal is for you to find the flour you want for your perfect bread, so my job is to teach you what is available and how to make your own choices, rather than just tell you what to buy.

I have a home mill, so we'll briefly discuss home milling and how it's different than buying already milled flour.

I will leave time at the end of class to delve into questions I may not have covered, or ones that arise in the process of our time together.
Other things to note
It's not necessary to have prior baking experience to take this class; come with your flour questions or concerns, however big or small. If I don't know, I'll help you find out!

I leaned so much about the history of wheat and flour, and I enjoyed the interaction with Adrian a lot. It felt like an informative and personalized lesson in a nice friend's kitchen.

I really enjoyed learning from Adrian for an hour all about the history of human consumption of grain, and the development of the technology used to mill and gain sustenance from this food which is central to the diet of much of human civilization. I especially enjoyed hearing Adrian's story of her own connection to grains & baking bread. As a relatively new hobbyist sourdough baker, it gives me a deeper context to explore what I want to bring in to the bread I make. Thanks Adrian.
