Mit fogunk csinálni?

We will first meet at Kam Sheung Road MTR station, exit D. See www.mtr.com to learn how to get there by subway/metro.

Here is the itinerary of what you will experience:

1. Kam Tin Flea Market
2. The Richfield, a recently developed area with cafés, shops, playgrounds and more
3. Red Brick House Market, where you can shop for candles, wooden furnitures, chopsticks, decor, and more. We will stop by here for local authentic food (meal provided)
4. Two of Kam Tin's Walled Villages, where I will explain the history and significance of these structures
5. Sum Ngai Brass, a shop with lots of brassware, Chinese porcelain, ceramics, furnishings, and feng shui objects. I will also teach you to make water jump just by rubbing our hands on the brassware handles.

Along the way, you will see creative artworks on the walls by local creative artists. I will also be explaining about interesting facts about Kam Tin.

We then return back to Kam Sheung Road MTR station. After/Before this trip, I recommend visiting the Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden; going to Shenzhen which is close by, or going to Yuen long; a station away but with tons of shopping and local street foods
Other things to note
The event will be cancelled if the Weather Observatory has issued a red or black rainstorm signal or a Typhoon no. 8 signal or above within four hours prior to the starting time.

Kam Tin is a beautiful, yet often neglected side of Hong Kong. It contrasts vastly from the high-rise buildings and crowdedness that you see everywhere else in the city.

I've lived in Kam Tin for almost ten years, having brought my friends on guided tours to showcase the area that I live in. I've seen the area change and also discovered many cool spots and eateries that even locals themselves may not know of. In fact, I have created an eBook to showcase Kam Tin's beauty during the different seasons.

Hol leszünk?

The first few stops include Kam Tin Flea Market, The Richfield, and Red Brick House Market, places that sell local snacks, vintage clothings, antiques, wooden furniture, candles, wine, and more. We then visit a couple of Kam Tin's Walled Villages where some of the first indigenous settlers lived in. Finally, we arrive at Sum Ngai Brass, a shop that sells many brass ware, porcelain, and ceramics.

We had a great time with Ryan today. He offered a different glimpse of Hong Kong for us to see, with no skyscrapers or bustling crowds of people.

This a unique experience that enhances the Hong Kong experience by seeing a rural, country setting. It is easy to get here on the MTR, and you will find Ryan to be an excellent tour guide.

After several days in the city, my time at Kam Tin was a welcomed reprieve from the crowds and hustle of the concrete jungle. Essentially Kam Tin is a large suburb out in what's considered a rural area. I happened to book the experience for a Saturday, which was very timely as there was a weekend flea market as well in the itinerary. Ryan was also very knowledgeable about Kam Tin's history. I asked a lot of questions and Ryan patiently answered them all. Ryan was very welcoming, warm and friendly. We chatted as if we were friends! I would recommend this experience if you want a break from the manic pace of the city, and something different to the tourists spots and attractions. It's worth the trip - 30 mins by Uber or taxi (appx HKD 300) or 45 mins by train (much cheaper travel option if you're comfortable with changing train lines).
