Learn the tools of the trade - Filmmaking 101 - from Shooting to Editing. Meet me to discuss your filmmaking goals, vision and technical aspects that you wish to learn. I will provide professional camera equipment from Canon and Sony as well as additional tools of the trade including microphones and basic lighting. Next we will set off to 3 shoot locations in the city to learn how to capture footage hands-on. Guests are welcome to bring their own equipment. After we have captured footage around the city, we will review the clips and I will guide you through the process of video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro. Bring your vision to our meeting and leave with a finished short movie and new skills. Learn the basics of shooting, sound, lighting, editing and posting videos to the web.
Other things to note
Be prepared to walk 3-6 km. Bring an umbrella and sunglasses. If you will bring your own gear, please keep it to carry-on-plane sized kit you carry on back. Bring cash for your own food and drinks.

In 2001 I was working as a film editor in the offices of Serac Adventure Films with award winning documentary film director/cinematographer Michael Brown. Later i became the director of operations for a community television station, helping dozens of people to produce weekly episodes. Over my career, i've had the chance to travel to over 40 countries. I've recently spoken at a Ted Talk about my work producing a feature film on the Syrian Refugee Crisis. I love what i do and I enjoy meeting new people and sharing what i know from my experiences in the field as a storyteller. We will meet at the Starbucks at Alexanderplatz. Film shooting will take place in 3 locations: The East Side Gallery, RAW-Gelände and State park Tempelhofer Feld. Editing will be done in at a coffee shop in the Schillerkiez neighborhood.
