I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. The house was originally a teahouse, a more refined type of building than a typical machiya and closely tied to geisha culture. Many original details remain, including a rare Hako-kaidan staircase crafted about 150 years ago. The house now features full floor heating, and accommodates a maximum of four guests to preserve a calm atmosphere.

Our house Unoan is a 100-year old machiya that has been beautifully renovated into a luxurious accommodation for short stays. You can rent the whole house. The house is in an excellent location with easy access to popular sightseeing spots such as historical Gion area, Yasaka Shrine, Kiyomizudera Temple, Sanjusangendo Temple, and Fushimi Inari Shrine. The main shopping areas, department stores and the Pontocho dining and entertainment district are all within easy walking distance.
