I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

Reikaku Yasaka | Gion | Historical Machiya

Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo

We restored the Kyo-machiya old house to the modern style. The location is easy accessible, only 4 minutes-walk away from the Subway Gojo Sta. and 12 minutes-walk away from Kyoto Sta., and also great for touring the popular sights in center of Kyoto city such as Gion district and Higashiyama area and so on This room can accommodate up to 5 people All rooms and the balcony are 100% Smoking-Free, including on the surrounding streets. Please smoke at a convenience store or in a smokable cafe

The location of the hotel is in a place where you can walk to downtown area of Kyoto and famous temples. It is a very convenient place.

We retain the original properties of the machiya by using a lot of wood materials, and design of hollow-out and high ceilings and embellishment of cement and steel elements give this house a sense of modernity. Here, you can experience the original and traditional Japan, and also the ingenuity of combining modern elements with traditional craftsmanship.

Tubara is in the Higashiyama in Kyoto. You can go to so many sights (Kiyomizu temple, Kenninji temple, Yasaka shrine, Fushimiinaritaisha, Gion area, Kamo river, downtown..) on foot! Tsubara was 100y old Machiya, we lovely restored all possible to original style using antique fittings & materials by traditional craftsmanship. We love Tsubara, we hope the guests too!
