We're around if you need anything or would like any tips on fave spots or what's in season from the garden and farmer's market, but otherwise the cottage is exclusively yours.
Our cottage is perfect for eco-conscious nature lovers. It's super quiet, meditative and relaxing here... a great place to do yoga, catch up on your reading, write your travel memoirs, or just kick back after a day of beach adventures, sun, surf and waterfall swims.
When you book, we'll email you further detailed information, directions, and a copy of "da house rules" which are primarily common sense and which you agree to abide by. Particularly:
~ Our place is in a modern rural subdivision on the edge of the tropical jungle/rainforest. So there are going to be some bugs, and dey are big and hungry here! But really it is minimal and should not be a problem. If you are extremely squeamish however, or have never seen a cockroach, mosquito, ant, or centepede before, or a friendly gecko or spider, you might want to try a commercial hotel on the developed side of the island!
~ Likewise, our land and hale are organic. Please never bring any toxic chemical sprays or pesticides of any kind as this creates a hazmat disposal burden for us and for the island, and we will charge you a $50 disposal fee.
~ Please recycle according to the instructions and use the provided bins. Rinse, crush and sort plastic, metal, cardboard containers and separate glass. Never mix trash with recycling or we will charge you a $50 recycling fee to pick through it.
~ Please buy less packaged goods so you have less to recycle. Never buy flats of bottled water because this creates dozens of plastic bottles to recycle. Instead, buy or bring a reusable water bottle. Filtered mountain water is provided via the filter tap at the kitchen sink for free.
- If you are arriving on a late flight or otherwise after dark, please be sure to review the directions we've emailed you for the route. We're located in a private rural location which can have limited cell reception. If for some reason you haven't received the directions from us prior to your arrival, please call or text ahead so we can help.
- If you are departing late, please let us know when you book so we can try to accommodate you, depending on our calendar.
- If you encounter any problems, need anything or have any suggestions, please let us know while you are here so we can try to accommodate you!
I'm a Portland native but have lived on Maui for years. I love it here! Hawaii is one of the most beautiful and relaxed places on earth, and north shore Maui is the jewel of the islands. Most of the winter I'm sailing with the whales and could help you book a cruise. There's so much nature to enjoy here, whether you're into surfing, kiting, hiking or just kicking back on the beach and enjoying locally grown organic produce, tropical fruits, fresh fish, and local kine grindz :)
