A key to the house is provided with a $20 deposit, refunded when key is returned.

We encourage folks to step outdoors and enjoy our human nest, our edible gardens and outdoor sitting areas as well as our in door communal spaces. We also have bicycles that can be rented for the day to cavort around Arcata. For those who are light sleepers, we offer earplugs upon request.

Joyce Plath, the owner of The Redwood Lily Guesthouse has lived in Arcata for over thirty years. She is an architect, painter,world traveler and a community member who has opened up her home in order to share an insider perspective to the wonderful city of Arcata.
The Redwood Lily Guesthouse, Arcata's only eco-hostel's goal is to provide engaging accommodations during your stay on California's Redwood Coast. We work hard to leave a positive mark on the environment, our local economy, and the adventures of our guests. We have an abundance of beautifully furnished common spaces including two patios, an outside fort for adults, and four sitting rooms that invite casual social interaction over a cup of tea or a glass of wine. Our two kitchens are well stocked with supplies for our guest to use anytime. A simple organic breakfast of oatmeal, granola, local fresh fruit, tea and coffee is served every morning. Many of our guests return repeatedly because they enjoy the comradery of our diverse guests and enthusiastic knowledgeable staff.
We have a variety of private rooms, family accommodations, single and double beds in co-ed shared dorm spaces, a tiny house and a studio apartment at a remote location, all at reasonable prices. We offer beds with all organic sheets and pillowcases. Free WiFi is available throughout our historic house. We hope you will come stay with us and let us be your gateway through the redwood curtain. We are family friendly, service animal friendly, and able to accommodate fairly large groups. For special occasions, we are happy to rent the entire house as well.
As an eco-hostel we work to balance the comfort of our guests with our responsibility to the natural environment and the socio-economic community around us. This comes through our use of low-impact and organic products, supporting and promoting local businesses, and acting as a connection between our guests and the Arcata community. From The Lily you will be able to walk to local restaurants, organic food stores, new and used bookstores, the post office, banks, the community pool, Crabs baseball games, Humboldt State University, and the Natural History Museum. Arcata's Redwood Forest and bird watching trails on the Humboldt Bay are just a short walk from our front door. On a rented bike you can easily ride out to sand dunes and have nearly deserted beaches all to yourself!
In an effort to encourage alternative modes of transportation, we are proud to offer a 15% discount to anyone arriving by bicycle! We have on-site secure bike parking and some basic repair tools.
