Since you are on an tropical island bugs are to be expected. Unfortunately we were there in August & it was unbearably hot! There is no a/c & it is not "moderately cool" in Molokai.
You cannot keep the 2 sliding glass doors open at night as they don't lock. The screen doors, along with the windows screens do not fit snugly. The mosquitoes & other insects can easily come in as they did.
Again you are in a tropical island and right against the grass and water. I have read other reviews and found they have had the similar issues.
The condo is close to the little town. Everything in town is extremely expensive. We went to a little market a ways out from the airport near Kualapuu Cookhouse. WOW! over $6 for a 1/2 gallon of water. We ate at the Cookhouse. The burgers were great. I just wish we found the "friendly" people of Molokai. We got a lot of Stink Eye.
We did go to the bakery/diner to eat breakfast and have hot bread. The older woman who was there was so friendly. She came and sat with us for a bit. The younger girl who served us said maybe 3 sentences to us. (Stink Eye) We came back in the evening for Hot Bread. It was delicious, and the friendly cat was great! Humans.... stink eye.
Do note that Pizza Cafe had portable a/c and is wonderful. We had dinner there and they open at 10:00. They offer much more than pizza. You can order to go or you sit down and they will serve you.
They have delicious coffee with refills for $1.50.
The servers there are extremely friendly. They were about most friendly on the island. I can't say enough about these girls. They went above and beyond to help us.
***Please be aware there is not much cell reception on the island & there is NO wifi in the condo. Strangely, we were able to get the best service out of town on the west end.
I would say this condo is average. After looking around the island most places are about the same. There is only one nice place to stay and that is Hotel Molokai. The restaurant reopened right before we came. The food was delicious, the band, was fun, and the view was spectacular! A must for a nice night out. Paddler's Inn doesn't have a/c but the food was very good.
John was very good about communication. The issues I had regarding the place was the cleaning, or lack of, and something he had no foresight into. The condo itself does need some improvements, but for what we saw on the island it is an average place with 2 bedrooms.
