Come spend the weekend at Bernie's! Bernie's Place is right in town while feeling like in the woods. We have a large 1/3 acre lot with easy access to tulip activities, the hospital, and the outdoors. You’ll love Bernie's place because it is homey, private, and comfortable. Plus I provide a continental breakfast, have fresh eggs in season, and am working on fresh berries and produce in the garden. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and dogs. All are welcome.

Our daylight basement is newly remodeled into a full apartment. There is a full kitchen, fridge, 3/4 bath, and a large, open floor plan. Your view is out the back of the house and is mostly cedars. I have decorated with a Pacific Northwest theme perfect for locals or out of towners alike. Out the bedroom window, you can watch the chickens and ducks hanging out in their yard. Please be aware the chickens and ducks are right outside your window. Most don't mind, but they can make noise at night and early in the morning. I have a white noise machine and electric fireplace which can help drown out noises if needed. In addition, I live upstairs with two dogs, so expect to hear me here and there.
You have private access through a locking sliding door in the back of the house and a private (dirt) driveway.

I am open to how much you would like to socialize! I often hang in the backyard on warm summer nights with a fire and the dogs and you are welcome to join. That said, if you need/want privacy, I can arrange for you to seldom see me. I do go into the backyard daily to put the chickens/ducks in and out, so expect to hear/see me at least then. When I do that is negotiable if need be, however, and I try to do my yard chores when guests are out.

As mentioned, there are ducks and chickens outside your bedroom window. They do make noise, especially in the morning while laying their eggs. I also have 2 cats and 2 dogs on the premisis. The dogs occasionally bark. You will have private patio access, however my dogs can watch you from the fence (and possibly will). If you have a dog, my Lola can be pretty cranky about them. We can work out me keeping her in as needed so your stay isn't affected. If you need a private fenced area to run your dog, we can do so, but needs to be arranged so I keep mine in.
Please note I am not able to provide breakfast for long-term guests (anything that qualifies for a discount).
No pets on furniture, including bed(s).
Please note that our space may not be a good fit for small children. We have many knick knacks in the unit and are not childproofed. In addition, crying children upset my dogs. I do not want to exclude children, you are welcome to bring your older kiddos, but please consider these things before booking with me and make sure it is a good fit for you and for us.
PLEASE make sure you read the policy book upon arrival as it has valuable information on using things like the lights, stove, shower, etc in the unit.
I am an avid traveler myself and owning a BnB has been a life goal! I am so excited to be able to host travelers from around the world in my lovely neck of the woods. I am an avid hiker and spend as much time outside as I can. I am a local to this area and can help you find whatever experience you are looking for- included a guided hike if you wish! I have really enjoyed creating an inviting space for others to enjoy my space as I adore my home and yard. I teach for the local university and am working on my PhD in counseling so am often home during the day. I love animals, nature, travel, and people.
