Hi Jessica and Payton,
We would like to acknowledge your kind words about Casa Libre and its amenities.
We would like to set the record straight on your negative comments. As soon as you notified us by email that you had an issue at the house, we contacted you. We also contacted our caretaker Rita right away and instructed her to call the police. This is a key point, as you did not contact the authorities, we did.
Also, in your email (which we retained) you mentioned that about $1100 dollars in cash disappeared and that the house’s Bose Speaker system was also taken, later when we spoke for the second time, you reversed the story saying that the speaker was not taken but money and your cell phone were missing.
You also mentioned that the alleged intruder/s came through a screened open window that you left opened. To this fact, we commented that we clearly noted in our home instructions that while out of the house, as common precaution, you have to lock all widows and have the curtains extended to provide privacy and save energy. Please do not feel we blame you for what seemed to have happened, we simply pointed to some of the house rules in the manual. When our caretaker and the police came to the house the screen to this window was in place, you indicated that the alleged perpetrators had to take it out and put it back in place.
It is good to note that our caretaker and the police did not see any evidence of damage on the knife, the door or door frame. You emphatically reported the door was jimmied open.
We want to note that we immediately called you and we spoke to you and your husband twice during that night. We also mentioned to you that we were going to be out of reach for some hours as we were taking a flight from Singapore to Indonesia and would be available through messaging afterwards. We also told you to contact us at any time. While in our stay in Indonesia, we contacted again our caretaker to call you to see how you were, and she indicated all was well.
It is hurtful to see that you point to an alleged “inside job”. Police do not do that kind of pronunciations on an investigation, as all parties including the alleged victim/s are suspect. An equivalent would be us saying “we think you faked this alleged break in to have a free Caribbean vacation”, but we would not say that.
Lastly, we would like to point that while we now live in Singapore, we were in Casa Libre 13 times between 2016 to February 2018 and since, 4 other renters were there with glowing reviews. We maintain it is a very safe place in the Caribbean, that is one of the reasons why we built the house in Rainbow Bay.
Sol and I are executives in the Insurance and Aerospace industries respectively, we have our houses fully paid for and this experience left us questioning the Airbnb host experience as a whole.
