Donetella and her husband Salvatore were such welcoming hosts. The moment I arrived, they invited me for a home cooked lunch at their lovely rurally located house the following day where we ate from their garden. Salvatore drove me around a bit and showed me some of the nicest places to swim. They also were game to struggle with my poor Italian and even got their kids on the phone with me when translation was absolutely imperative.
I'll say, you need a car. It's a close drive to the water, and there are many nearby beaches, towns, and restaurants to visit, but you need wheels.
When you arrive, if at night, don't be put off by the surrounding seemingly desolate area with it's half built buildings and eerie silence. You're only about a 15 min walk from restaurants and shops and people etc, and in the morning when the sun is out, you'll be satisfied especially at this price.
The two best things about staying here are the hosts and the garden. Oh, and it's clean, and safe and easy parking and all that good stuff... Oh and there's a turtle in the garden. Turtles are always a nice touch.
