My ABC's: I am articulate, bright, courteous, discrete, energetic, friendly, grounded, hospitable, interesting, joyful, kind, lively, multi-faceted, neighborly, optimistic, peripetetic, quick-witted, reliable, sociable, trust-worthy, urbane, vivacious, warm-hearted, eXperienced, (been there, done that) young-at-heart, and zany at times.
I have traveled the world and raised four wonderful kids to be self-sufficient, independent, contributing members of society. Since they vacated their bedrooms, that made room for YOU!
Five things I can not live without: Family, friends, travel, life-long-learning, and making the world a better place.
My motto: "Always leave a place better off than you found it."
My little corner of the world: I live about one mile from the western end of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. It's the mountain range that separates Malibu and the Pacific Ocean from the San Fernando Valley, Thousand Oaks and all the way to the Camarillo Plain. You can walk or ride your mountain bike from my front door, through Sycamore Canyon, all the way to the beach at Sycamore Cove, anout 12 miles away. When the kids were young, we used to do it as a family every Spring and enjoy the wild flowers in bloom.
We are about equi-distance from Downtown Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Without traffic (plan your commute time...) it takes less than an hour to get to either of them. Ventura is about 30 minutes away. LAX is also less than an hour away, depending on traffic.
My home is surrounded by open space, maintained hiking and mountain biking trails, and there are many community parks nearby, as well as shopping, public transportation, and many arts and cultural venues.
For me, one of the best things about travel is coming home to my own lovely home. I always am so appreciative to be able to live in such a wonderful location, in a safe and diverse community, close to nature and the arts and culture of a major metropolitan area like Los Angeles; yet hear birds outside, instead of traffic.
