I have a 2 bedroom apartment in a well-kept, renovated, neighborly building. The airy apartment is located in a five floor walk-up, yes on the fifth floor, but you are rewarded for your efforts because there are only two apartments on each floor, which makes for a quiet building but please note although this is a quiet building we do live in New York City, so please expect traffic noise outside at times. It is steps away from Starbucks and Chase bank, also across the street from a newly created supermarket with quality fresh fruits, vegetables and organic groceries.
I am a mother of two boys. I enjoy reading, traveling and meeting new people. I'm friendly and easy going. Hope you are too.
What is being offered is a private bedroom with a lock (from the inside) in a shared space.
The apartment is located on a safe, clean tree-lined block with the A, B, C, D, 2/3 trains only blocks away. A 15 minute train ride will land you in midtown Manhattan. We are walking distance to the famed Apollo Theatre, Food Network's Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster, as well as the well-renowned Sylvia's, which could be costly so a more affordable soul food restaurant is Amy Ruth's. Also nearby is Columbia University, Central Park on 110th Street and many other restaurants/lounges.
I love my neighborhood, so I hope you will walk around and get to know it.
Oh yes the extras:
(during the summer)
-1 full size bed (comfy)
-Netflix On Demand
-Computer Accessible (upon request)
-Laundromat/Cleaners across the street
-Free Parking on the streets
One more thing I promise - just below us is a quaint French cafe/restaurant that serves delicious breakfast and brunch, and across the street is a gourmet soul-food restaurant with delicious drinks and great entertainment (singers, musicians, poets...what fun!)
And if that doesn't float your boat many of the surrounding restaurants/lounges include happy hour ($5 a drink) should.
Entertainment: Magic Johnson Movie Theatre (AMC Theatre) also on 125th.
We're walking distance to the Studio Museum in Harlem which offers free admission on Sundays. There is also plenty of shopping on 125th Street.
Okay that's it. Now your turn.
Smoking allowed outside. You can specifically smoke on the roof located on the 6th floor. Please remove your shoes by the door (makes cleaning the floors a little bit easier). Also, if you need to receive mail please ask me about this, so I can provide you with information regarding the UPS store (across the street). Unless we discuss this in advance, packages and mail are not to be received here at my address.
Do use our wash cloths and towels.
Never forget to dance, sing and laugh like no one is watching.

Due to the overwhelming responsibility of work & school I have been absent from airbnb. Now, I'm back! I am an educator, writer, filmmaker and mother of two boys. I enjoy reading, writing and meeting new people. I joined airbnb years ago, for what I thought was just a summer experience. I found the experience more enjoyable than I expected, so I kept renting out my space.
As a result, my boys and I have hosted guests from China, Egypt, Australia, Spain, Poland and various states. Most of our travel is with in the United States, but I have always wanted to give my children the opportunity to travel the world. I didn't consider that the world would be coming right to our home.
I love to meet new people and learn about other cultures. I get a kick out of my guests feeling comfortable. I find joy in that.
