Misty Mountain Hut - Ruapehu

Misty Mountain Hut-Ruapehu is located in the sleepy little village of Rangataua, 5 minutes distance to Mountain road going up to the Turoa skifield and Ohakune. The 1 bedroom colonial villa has a beautiful view of the mountain. Unlimited wifi and a new firebox with plenty of firewood and a heat pump ensure you are warm in winter. My favourite time here is summer for amazing walks/cycling up mountains to enjoy majestic views. Misty Mountain Hut supports local staff by paying $40/hr for cleaning.

Kawakawa Hut with outdoor “crystal” bath

A small but special little place tucked neatly between rolling hills. Kawakawa Hut provides a simple but comfy getaway for two in a beautiful countryside. Close by lies the vegetable garden, and friendly cows graze just over the fence. Further out over surrounding farmland you can see Tongariros snow capped mountains in the distance, so sit back and enjoy. Beautiful open style cottage to yourselves with great deck and views of the mountains . All bedrooms are off the main living area which encourages plenty of family time. 20 meter walk to shuttle pick up in National Park. The famous Tongariro Crossing, Ring of Fire (March 2020), 42 Traverse are some of the regions major events. National Park has access to awesome mountain bike tracks and some of the most beautiful scenic walking treks in New Zealand. Cafes and pubs all within 5mins walk.
