Come be our guest in this charming home in Anchorage's U-Med District. Enjoy a private room in the top floor unit of a duplex, located in a quiet neighborhood. We're centrally located--very accessible by car and close to city trails and bus stops. Great place to come home to during your visit.
The home isn't short on character. Although the guest room is painted a simple white, the rest of the house is decorated in bold, cool colors and features quirky decorations throughout.
A small-but-growing indoor garden helps give the home some extra light and greenspace year-round.
Most the kitchen cabinets are finished with chalkboard paint, so you can doodle or write while cooking and add your own (albeit temporary) touch to the place.
The neighborhood is quiet, safe and filled mostly with mixed family housing. It essentially sprouted up as a suburb back in the 1970s. Now, it's in the middle of the city.
Conveniently located in the U-Med District: University of Alaska Anchorage, Alaska Pacific University, Providence Hospital and Alaska Native Medical Center are all in the immediate area.
For recreation, the neighborhood is surrounded by parks. Of particular interest is Far North Bicentennial Park, a 4,000-acre park with more than 100 miles of multi-use trails. Other nearby parks include University Lake, Goose Lake and Russian Jack Springs.
Although there aren't too many dining and shopping options in the neighborhood itself, there are a few great standouts nearby.

The rental space is a cozy basement Mother-in-Law apartment located about 10 blocks from the heart of Downtown Anchorage in the Fairview Neighborhood. Great for getting a good nights rest in the land of the midnight sun!
The apartment has everything you need to feel at home including a full kitchen with breakfast foods, living room with flat screen TV and wifi internet access, Netflix, and DVDs; bedroom with one queen size bed with duvet and fresh white linens; bathroom with bathtub, shower, and shampoo; and your own separate entrance to the apartment.
There is an awesome public park for kids just around the corner from our house. The best fried chicken/malts in town can be found 2 blocks away at the Lucky Wishbone. There is also a live music venue/bar 2 blocks away with live music most nights of the week called Van's Bar.

Three bedroom, 2 bathroom duplex with 1300 sq. feet to enjoy. Relax by the gas fireplace on cool nights and wintery days. There is a TV in the living room with a Roku and DVD for your entertainment and dependable high-speed internet. Several board games are provided.
The kitchen is fully stocked with variety of pots and pans, casserole dishes, baking dishes and sheets, and two slow cookers. Included are a large variety of spices, cooking oils, vinegars, coffee, sugar/sugar substitute, and teas. Aluminum foil, saran-wrap, and parchment paper are stocked. Brita water pitcher provided.
Each private bedroom has a queen bed with a comfortable mattress, soft cotton linens, lots of pillows, plenty of extra linens and cozy blankets. There is an infant/toddler crib with linens upon request.
Warm your toes with the automatic in-floor bathroom heat in the bathrooms. There is abundance of large, fluffy towels and toiletries. The unit has a large washer and dryer with powdered and fragrance-free liquid detergents provided.
The upper yard and spacious deck are for your enjoyment. Deck is west-facing and provides wonderful sun in the afternoons and sunset views with comfortable seating area for six guests and a gas grill with utensils and propane provided.
There is one off-street parking spot. Inquire with the host(s) about any additional parking if needed.
Our home is located between downtown and midtown - not in central downtown. It is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to downtown where you will find shopping, many great restaurants and bars. It's 15 minute drive to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and 5 minute drive to Anchorage Train Depot.
It's a 5 minute drive to local grocery stores including Fred Meyer and New Sagaya, and about 2 to 5 minute walk to the Chester Creek Sports Complex, Sullivan Arena, and local farmer's market in the summer. Ten to 15 minute walk to Chester Creek Trail, Valley of the Moon Park, and Coastal Trail access for biking, running, bird watching, and cross country skiing.

It is just blocks to downtown and is a little birders haven in the evening. Spring breakup season in Alaska is quite unpredictable so remember to bring your mush boots.

The property consists of two duplexes, totaling four 1-bdrm units. Our cottages offer fully equipped kitchens, dining room, living room, bedroom and a single bath. Every unit features an electric fireplace and a wifi enabled smart tv, all ready for you to log into your favorite streaming service!
When originally built in 1952 by my late grandfather these units were offered fully furnished providing temporary housing primarily to the construction workers living away from their families working on my grandfather's construction crew. Fast forward over 65 years and 2 generations and the property is returning back to its roots as we welcome short term guests from all over the world!
Cupples Cottages offers warm, cozy accommodations at budget friendly prices. Our goal is to offer something special, unique. This cottage has been specifically furnished and designed with couples in mind. Its standard configuration is a single queen bed only. However, we can provide a roll-away single bed in the living room to accommodate a third guest or separate sleeping arrangements for 2 guests at your specific advanced request (this is NOT typically included inside the cottage).
We currently offer four 1 bedroom cottages with an additional 2 bedroom single family home on the way! When complete, the property will feature gated security access, heated garage stalls in the winter months, and will boast over 10,000sf of outdoor lawn/garden green space. It promises to be a property unlike any other in downtown Anchorage.

Exterior 24 hour video surveillance is utilized to help us ensure compliance of these policies. Guests who violate the above policies will be subject to additional fees and cleaning charges.
Recreational marijuana users: While use of marijuana is legal in the state of Alaska, Cupples Cottages is a "marijuana free zone". If you intend to use marijuana during your trip to Alaska, we are not the right fit for you. Please find a different listing. Due to odor transfer from skin, hair and clothing which results in odors entering and permeating our cottages we request our guests remain "marijuana free" for the duration of their stay regardless of where you may choose to consume. (This policy is in place due to past experiences)
FAQ! "How far are you from the ANC airport?" A: We are located roughly a 15 minute drive from the airport. Rideshare services such as UBER and LYFT typically cost around $22-25 each way, taxicabs slightly more.
Located just a few short blocks from the heart of the downtown action, venues such as the Performing Arts Center, Downtown Market & Festival, Town Square Park, Anchorage Museum, Denaina Convention Center, and the Egan Center are right down the road.
In addition to the downtown attractions, we are conveniently located close to Joint-Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER) and have had the honor of hosting many of our service men and women's families while visiting their loved ones stationed here in Alaska.
As several guests have mentioned, our small, 80+ year old residential area of East downtown has seen better days and is a bit of an "up and comer". Both public and private reinvestment in the community has begun to take place, and the area is improving ascetically, but the revitalization is still in its infancy. With that said, once you step foot in one of our cottages you will quickly see that beauty is most definitely on the inside. And, you will be pleasantly surprised by how quiet and peaceful this downtown location becomes in the evening. The hustle and bustle of downtown life seems to just fade away around 6pm.

It has a queen size bed, big comfy couch, large bathroom, full kitchen, and washer/dryer. Large window in the living room provides lots of natural sunlight. This unit is just minutes from everything; grocery, parks, dining, dancing, midtown, downtown, U-Med, Providence, and ANMC but with the added benefit of quiet and privacy.

On northbound routes the Seward Highway connects to Elmore road which gives you access to NE Anchorage and the Glenn Highway to Palmer, Wasilla and beyond.

The room is the cleanest you'll find in this room rental platform, guaranteed! Amenities galore. You'll have all the privacy you need and can access the property at your discretion. A variety of additional services available to travelers, including laundry room, and vehicle rental upon request. We can't wait to hear from you.
Our home is a 3 story, with the basement dedicated for our travelers and guests. The bedrooms are private keypad locked entry. Their are 2 rooms on the Airbnb platform for rent in the basement. They are spacious and very clean. A full variety of television channels to keep up on news or relax with a movie. There are privacy darkening shades for our elongated Summer sunshine for those that like to block out the light. The basement area is very large and has a kitchenette with single cup coffee server, microwave, refer/freezer, toaster oven and sink. The water quality is very good in Anchorage and there is no filtration on our house water. A closet with meal service items available for guests. The bedrooms have soap, shampoo, and conditioner for use. The bathroom is a shared bathroom, and other guests that have rented the other room may be already checked in. It’s also possible that you may be the only guests in the space during your trip. We will try to inform you in advance for your planning purposes. The bathroom closet has a iron and ironing board available for the fancy occasion. Additional toilet paper in bathroom drawer. There is a lounging area that is part of the common area for unwinding, watching tv/video, or crashing out if part of a larger group.
We live in a neighborhood close by many services. We have an active moose population within a 5 mile radius of our neighborhood. This is more prevalent in the Winter months for a sighting. There's always plenty of activity with people walking their dogs, or children playing in the streets. Be careful when driving through for an occasional ball rolling in the street

(Note: 3/18/2020 - I have 2 monthly renters upstairs currently and 1 bnb room. I turned off instant book temporarily per state recommendations for Covid19.) Pumpkin and I live downstairs in a tiny apartment. Near airport and downtown. Close to coastal trail with access to 50 + miles Lovely south facing deck. Your host is a teacher and life-long Alaskan since ‘64.
The "Lime Room" great for a solo traveler - 1 person only in this room . The room has a full-size bed, rocking chair, closet with shelving and hangers, luggage rack, small desk, robe and slippers, water jug and glasses; fan and space heaters available.
Turnagain is a great older established neighborhood with big yards, trees, and many home gardens. I am just down the street from the coastal trail, which goes from downtown to Kincaid Park and connects to 50+ miles of greenbelt trails eastward along Chester Creek and beyond. Our trails are wonderful for walking, biking, skiing - xc tracks set in winter. Lynn Ary park is two blocks and has a great playground for children, tennis courts and ball fields. The Westchester Lagoon is an easy walk or bike towards town and has skating in winter, playgrounds, a simple cafe in summer. Within a mile or 2K you have access to dining - Rustic Goat (10 min walk), The Roadhouse, Beartooth Pizza and beer pub/theatre; Carr's 24-hour grocery store and gas station/air for tires, AMH - Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking, Title Wave used book store, The Alaska Club (West and Women's club), Walgreens Pharmacy, and the post office.

You’ll love our place because of its modern Alaskan feel and location! This listing is the downstairs portion of our duplex home with its own private entrance. Our place has a great updated vibe with all the modern conveniences but still the Alaskan rustic feel. Sit back at watch the smart TV and put on a cozy fire. There is a private bedroom with a comfortable queen size bed that faces the beautiful barn doors in front of the closet. If you have multiple guests, the couch does become a queen bed also. We also offer our laundry room to our guests which is right off the space. We are constantly updating the space and we want to continue to add more and more features so ideas are always welcome!
Our place is within walking/biking distance of great restaurants and bars! Right around the corner there is the famous artisan bakery "Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop" and one of our most popular city markets with fresh Alaskan seafood at New Sagaya. We're also only minutes from the coastal trail and the beautiful Westchester Lagoon. You'll truly love walking the trail and its also a great way to get downtown!

The space features an open concept kitchen complete with a bar that connects to the living area, which includes a couch that pulls out into a comfortable queen sized bed if more than 2 guests are staying. In the same area there is a dining table with two chairs. The bedroom provides a plush queen bed and closet.
Restaurants, cafes, shopping, and everything Alaska is easily accessible from this location.
For winter, the nearest ski slopes are a short 15 minute drive away; and in summer, a concert or festival is never far off.

Experience Alaska in your very own private log cabin! Featured in 2018 by Women'sHealth Magazine, the Mayor’s cabin is located in downtown Anchorage and was built in 1946 by architect Maynard Taylor, who occupied the home with his wife and three kids while he was Mayor of Anchorage in the 1950s.

The cabin is perfectly situated in a residential neighborhood just a few blocks walk to downtown. Fully renovated, the cabin has new wiring and plumbing while still featuring its original solid log construction.
The cabin has a full kitchen, living room, and two bedrooms. The cabin has bed space for up to four guests. Please message to inquire about space for additional guests. The main bedroom features a queen size bed and there are two additional very Alaskan (see pictures!) twin beds in the separate second bedroom. PLEASE NOTE: the bathroom is accessed through the main bedroom. There is both Apple TV (with Netflix) and fast WIFI.
Enjoy the fully-fenced in yard and deck space -- perfect for summer BBQs, or building snowmen in the winter. The Mayor’s Cabin gives you a unique and authentic way to experience Anchorage and Alaska. SuperhostCabin (connected to house) in S. Anchorage, minutes from the highway, about 15-20 min from airport. We're on a dead end street, on a little over an acre of land w/plenty of space; across the street from a 330 acre park with multi-use trails. We frequently have wildlife around the neighborhood. We love animals and have 2 dogs (in kennel) & a hairless cat. 1.4 miles from grocery/clothing stores, fuel, restaurants & bus stops. We would recommend renting a car.
An original Alaskan Homestead cabin, with hand cut logs (& modern upgrades), attached to our home, with a private entrance. The queen bed is a memory foam mattress, and super comfortable. We do have a small futon style couch, and a “Pack and Play” for littles. We have a refrigerator, microwave, Keurig and dishes. For entertainment we have books, dvd's and some games. You can walk or ski the trails and feel like you are miles from town. The cabin feels secluded, yet is minutes from everything you need.
We are happy to help with travel, entertainment and food suggestions, and can share some of our personal favorites. We love meeting new people, and feel fortunate to share our unique, scenic location with guests.
We have parking onsite. Anchorage has both Uber and Lyft. We also have cabs and buses. The nearest bus stop is about 1.20 miles from the house. But we highly recommend renting a car, there’s so much to see!
Downtown Anchorage has a Performing Arts Center, Museum, great shops and a wonderful variety of restaurants as well as small breweries. We have some national chain stores, as well as many small business, locally owned shops of every sort. There are websites and apps to help you find Northern Lights activity.
We feel we are the "best of both worlds". Quiet, private and secluded feel, but minutes from stores, restaurants, even skiing. We're about 15 minutes from the sights, entertainment and sounds of downtown. It's a beautiful location no matter what time of year. We have wildlife wandering through the property, with an occasional moose bedding down in the yard. Some of our neighborhood favorites food stops are The Flying Dutchman (local Dutch bakery), Taco King (great mexican food), Midnight Sun Brewing Co. Recreation spots are Hilltop Ski Area, great walking/hiking/skiing trails, and the Alaska Zoo! We also have an equestrian event center that's a 2 minute walk through the woods. There are several shows during the summer season. If you want to see Northern Lights, search on the internet for a website, there are multiple sites available. We are close to the airport and it's a short $10 approx Uber, Lyft or cab ride. A local bus stop is 1/4 mile away. Local information/suggestions available upon request. It's approx a 10-15 minute drive to downtown. We are across the street from a lake in a very quiet and friendly neighborhood. Please note this apartment is in the basement and there is only one window at the entrance. Makes a perfect summer place if you are not used to the 18-19 hr sunlight.
Our home is a 2 story, with downstairs apartment/suite dedicated for our travelers and guests. Please note this apartment is not handicap accessible. The bedroom and living space is private with coded entry. 2 Bedroom, Full Bath, Living Room. We can accommodate 6 people however, 2 people would be provided a blow-up bed. Kitchenette, small refrigerator Toaster, Coffee maker, sink, bottled water, even though the water quality is very good in Anchorage. Light snacks are provided. Utensils are provided. We do not have an oven. TV with Dish Network, DVR and small movie collection. WIFI is included. The bathroom has shampoo and soap. Great for an excursion down Seward highway to the south. Also close to downtown for restaurants and other attractions. Local info provided upon request. Jen is an Alaska Licensed Therapeutic Massage Therapist and can provide this service upon request, $75 per hr. We do have a dog upstairs but he is quiet.
We are in a safe, clean, neighborhood with families and children but it remains pretty quite. We are close to the Airport so the occasional aircraft does take off as well as some private aircraft across the street at the lake. In Anchorage anywhere you go, always LOCK your vehicle.
