Welcome to your home away from home in Bar Harbor while visiting Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island.
This cozy, affordable getaway retreat offers superior privacy in a quiet rural and forested setting.
Spectacular sunset views and a central location only minutes to trails, carriage road bike paths, and downtown.
Saturday to Saturday only rental includes covered bicycle storage and free use of a canoe and car topping gear.
Step inside and admire the rugged cedar and hemlock beams that reach high to the pine board ceiling in the living area. Large windows and a full-size patio door look out over ancient apple trees and a small meadow were white-tailed deer and snowshoe hares stop by. Whip o' wills and woodcock can be heard at dusk and frequently the call of coyotes reaches up from the nearby stream valley. At night the stars shine brighter than anywhere else on the East Coast. Our "Tribal Council" area sports an Adirondak Leanto, fire pit with wood, running water and a picnic table along our 400-foot nature trail.
The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchenette that includes a two-burner gas cooktop, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, full-size refridgerator/freezer, compact sink, dishes, glasses, mugs, utensils, pots and pans. There is no oven but there is a gas grill with side burner (ideal for cooking up fresh local seafood in the cottage's clam, mussel and lobster pot) out on the porch/patio where there is a table and chairs for relaxing outdoors. Overhead there is a reading loft. The cottage is also stocked with field guides, maps, books and videos about the area's natural and human history. The cottage has free wireless broadband internet, a 14-inch LCD TV, with 200 cable channels and a DVD and VCR player. There are coloring books and videos for children. A Pack n' Play is available at no charge. There is good cellular telephone signal from the property.
The Carriage House Cottage at Westard Farm comes fully furnished with everything you need for a relaxing, memorable stay. Our central location is perfect for launching your hiking, biking, wildlife watching or paddling trips. The cottage is located approximately 150 feet from the main private residence on land that was once a working dairy farm. There is an unattached garage in between.
The clean, airy cabin includes a living room with gas log fireplace, a futon sofa/bed, chairs and a dining table and TV. The ground floor bedroom has a queen-size bed and bureau, hanging space for clothes, as well as a ceiling fan. Although there is no AC it often cools off quickly at night, especially on an island. There is also a ceiling fan in the living area and standing and portable fans as well. The bathroom has a vanity sink, toliet and shower with plenty of hot water and an electric heater. One set of linens and towels are provided for the week.
For your outdoor adventures there's a daypack, umbrella, hiking sticks, portable cooler and headlamp.
Note: due to local regulations we rent for full weeks only, Saturday to Saturday.
The Carriage House Cottage is in a rural area with widely-spaced single-family homes. It is just a mile from spectacular Eagle Lake and a main entrance to Acadia's motor-free carriage road network. Wildlife and birds abound. Woods abutting two sides of the property are designated forever wild by an easement held by Acadia National Park.

This charming newly constructed apartment offers an open living area with plenty of natural light. The comfortable accommodations are great for a couple or small family.
For the adventurous couple or small family looking for a clean, quiet and affordable accommodation, included are bicycles, fishing poles and a dingy for your convenience (inquire about tennis courts down the street/tennis racquets).
If you book a week stay, a lobster dinner for 2 (in season) will be included! Come along for a short boat ride and help me catch the lobster as well! For those that really want to get their hands dirty, you can harvest clams in the mud flats.
Just a short walk away down the road is the Blagden nature preserve separate from and less busy than Acadia National Park. A little further from Blagden, Is the Blue Horizon trail which is part of the Maine Coast Heritage Trail system. Both will take you to the shoreline where you can see seals, porpoises and an occasional Pilot whale. Along the way you can pick blueberries.
A short bike ride around the corner is Long Pond (ANP) a popular spot for fishing, swimming, kayaking, SUP'ing. If you look closely you may see one of the handful of celebrities that have summer homes here.
Located in a very quiet part of the island just a stone's throw to the villages of Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Tremont and Bass Harbor.

High speed wifi, SmartTV with Netflix provided (HBO, Hulu, Amazon, etc. are available to use with your own account), communal washer/dryer just outside your door, large closet, hair dryer, assorted supplies, Bose bluetooth player, and snacks.
Snug, intimate space that's perfect for couples looking for something well-situated and well-appointed. Decorated with antique maps of Mount Desert Island, Maine, and many books about the history of this area. The pristine bathroom has luxurious towels, heated marble floor, and a spa-quality shower big enough for two. The communal yard has a fire pit and a lighted bocce court for you to enjoy. Just outside your door is a large deck with a gas bbq grill. There is no kitchen here, but you are provided with a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave.
Albert Meadow is a quaint street with quiet neighbors. Grab breakfast only a few minutes away at my favorite joint, or make yourself some coffee and walk a minute down the street to catch the sunrise over Frenchman Bay.

Close to Carriage roads to CX-Ski or bike, lakes to swim or skate, and mountains to hike or snow shoe. Feel free to change the floor plan to suit your taste. Everything is easily moved around.
This is a very quiet residential neighborhood with a road association any many lovely families. There is a a small public pond just down the road for canoeing, fishing or ice skating in winter. A perfect local swim lake is just a few miles away.

Hall Quarry, located about halfway between Somesville and Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island, was once home to a thriving granite quarrying industry that provided stone to build the National Mint in Philadelphia and the Brooklyn anchorage to the Manhattan Bridge in New York. Hall Quarry supported as many as five quarrying operations from 1870 to 1965, and many can still be seen today by walking through the neighborhood. There is a small park across the street from the cottage that was dedicated to the Quarrymen. It is a peaceful place that sits nestled in the hills on Somes Sound. Somes Sound is the only natural fjard on the East coast and a popular sailing and pleasure boating destination, offering protected deep anchorages and spectacular views all year long.
Watch the deer grazing all around you in the later part of the day. Also take in our beautiful Maine Lupine flower in full bloom around the property.
We are just minutes to some of Acadia National Park's most popular hiking and biking trails, as well as a COOL swimming spot at Echo Lake Beach. We are within 8 miles of the lively downtown Bar Harbor. National Park areas are all around the island.

The Lighthouse Retreat is a studio apartment with a separate solarium entryway. It's located a few hundred feet from Acadia National Park allowing you to be off-road hiking or biking in just minutes! Plus the Lighthouse Retreat is less than a mile to downtown Bar Harbor, boat tours and 1/2 mile from the College of the Atlantic. It's perfect for couples or young families with 1 or 2 children wanting to explore the the National Park, or anyone wishing experience the unique coast of Maine!
The apartment has a lighthouse theme throughout including a small working lighthouse to guide you to your parking space when you arrive.
The bed is a queen size Murphy bed so can be locked into the wall to make more room during the day.
You'll be in a quiet neighborhood with frequent sightings of deer and an occasional friendly chipmunk known to eat sunflower seeds out of our hands.

Come stay among moss covered spruce woods in our village of tiny homes and misfit animals.
Due to restrictions we are only able to have one party per week so we encourage longer stays. However we understand restraints and allow 2 nights during the winter months.
Bike three miles to picnic by the ocean, swim or to hike up the western mountains.
Take a short drive to Southwest and Bass Harbor for fresh seafood and entertainment. Even enjoy avant-garde theater in a rustic barn by the sea.
This home is built with bent maple poles in the style of an Iroquois Longhouse. There are large windows that let in the morning sun, space for storage, a wood stove perfect for winter stays and a cozy twin sized bed.
Our property is located on a dead end road, please make sure to drive all the way to the end and park. We also have a very strict 10 mph speed limit on our road. It is important for our future that guests do not go over that limit. Thank you in advance.
Our tiny homes are sheltered in a quite
mossy woodland. Just a mile walk from our land is a lake with wonderful swimming and fishing and the trailhead up the western mountains of Acadia. Take a two and a half mile bike ride in the opposite direction and you'll find yourself at a beautiful picnic spot by the ocean, the perfect place to enjoy a lobster bake as you watch the sun set.

SuperhostThe Blue room has a living area with pull out couch, private queen size bedroom, private full bath, microwave, mini fridge, Keurig coffee/tea service, WIFI and cable TV. Sleeps two but can sleep up to four. The pull out couch is much better for little ones, not so much for adults, please keep that in mind when reserving this room for more than two, thinking of your comfort, thank you.

This second floor two-bedroom cottage on the "Quietside" has lovely views of the harbor from the living room and deck. Perfect for small families, there is a queen sized bedroom and a kids room with two twin beds. Explore nearby restaurants on foot or cook in your own functional kitchenette. On Southwest Harbor's nicest residential street minutes from town, this is a fantastic place to unwind by the sea.
Clark Point neighborhood is unique, rich in a variety of offerings and activities within minutes by foot, boat, bike or auto!
Being on the Harbor provides and ever changing visual experience. Heavily populated in the summer with an incredible array and variety of watercraft, from the fleet of vintage Friendship Sloops to luxury Hinckley sale and power boats, to the commercial fishing fleet of lobster boats and scallop draggers.
This property is 'south facing' which makes it a warm and welcoming place for us during the 'off season'... Our 'winter' home is Bangor where we work in real estate and insurance, 46 miles away, but spend nearly every weekend during the fall, winter and spring seasons!
Our property and location is great because there is a mix of summer residents and year 'round residents... there is an active community here in the 'off season'
During the summer the bus stops at our doorstep providing free transportation around Mt Desert Island. But when its not we are within a short distance to the Causway Club, which has nine hole golf course, clay tennis courts and a salt water heated pool.
On the other side of the Club is the Park with superb hiking. One fantastic hike is Flying Mountain which is only about 250' in elevation and takes only 20 minutes to climb. The reward is a fabulous view East overlooking Somes Sound, Northeast Harbor and the ocean and islands off shore. The trail continues down to Valley Cove on the Sound and there's a fire road returning you to the point of beginning.
The proximity to the vibrant village 'down town' adds to the location. The village offers a great library, Harbor House a community neighborhood organization offering 'YMCA' type of programs for folks of all ages, a great bakery, specialty wine store, a gourmet food market, bike shop, pharmacy, and an array of fine restaurants.
Personally, the property provides access to the harbors and islands around Mt Desert Island.
A world-class location, Southwest Harbor is Bar Harbor without the crowds! Walk to Red Sky or the Claremont for fine dining, paddle across the harbor to XYZ for margaritas and authentic Mexican or take the boat to Islesford Dock from steps away. Catch some live music and tapas at Coda or Sips, or walk to Beal’s for Lobster. Or call early and order a farm- to-table dinner to go from Red Sky and eat ribeye and halibut on your private deck overlooking the harbor!
If you are feeling active there are countless hiking trails and the free Island Explorer bus stops right outside. Acadia mountain is a 5-minute drive, or explore the natural Seawall or Bass Harbor. Bar Harbor, Sand Beach, Cadillac Mtn. and Northeast Harbor are all a quick 25-minute drive away. Nestled with three other cottages in a quaint residential neighborhood on the shore of Southwest Harbor, you can witness a variety of interesting boating activities from your porch.
A ferry which goes to some of the outer islands passes several times a day to the Upper Town Dock. Lobster fishermen moor their boats and work off the lobster wholesaler's docks just next door. Across the harbor is Dysart's Great Harbor Marina, hosting everything from commercial fishing boats to world class yachts in the summer months. Acadia National Park, with its nearly 32,000 acres of land offers unequaled beauty and ocean front access. Over 55 miles of carriage trails created and gifted to the people by John D. Rockefeller provide easy hiking and biking to the summits of nearby mountains with vista of unrivaled beauty.
In spite of all the physical beauty and charm of the 'Island' we hear most from our newer guests that they were most impressed with the friendliness of the community and the people of Southwest Harbor. Most are anxious to make a visit to Southwest Harbor an annual affair!

The Hideaway features two king bedrooms, one full bathroom, a full kitchen. Amenities include: dining ware, cookware (including lobster pot!), linens, dishwasher, washer dryer, microwave, gas grill, flat screen cable TV, DVD, WIFI There is no landline, but cell phone service is good.
We do welcome your well behaved 4 legged family. It does create more cleaning for the house keepers, it would not be inappropriate to leave a small gratuity for the house keepers for their extra time.

We are on a private lane off Highway 3 (Bar Harbor Road). Quiet neighborhood with just a few homes on the street next to ours. Sit on the front porch soaking in the ocean views or hop in your car and have access to shops, hiking trails and restaurants within minutes. Fantastic location!

Walk right from the cottage to access the carriage roads and the Giant Slide Trail which leads up Sargeant Mountain.
We are a centrally located cottage in the town of Mount Desert, which borders Acadia National Park. You may hike from the front door of the cottage to access the 45 miles of carriage roads which traverse the island. No automobile traffic is allowed on the carriage roads so they are perfect for biking and hiking. No pets allowed.
The Giant Slide Trail begins just out the front door and to your right. We are within one mile to the Japanese Azalea Gardens and the Thuya Gardens. The Marina in Northeast Harbor, one mile away, offers ferry rides to the Cranberry Islands or Acadia Naturalist Tours up Somes Sound. There are a grocery store and restaurants in Northeast Harbor. In the winter one may cross country ski on the carriage roads.

There are decks on both sides, one overlooks ocean and offers comfort and a view of Frenchman's bay and beautiful islands. When sitting on the large deck you feel like you are literally on the ocean, with a constant ocean breeze.

SuperhostThis space goes by "the little house" (emphasis on little), although it is more of a lofted studio apartment. The warm wooden surfaces lend a feeling of rustic romance, while deep seated furnishings and fresh features create a summery lounge-like space. Below deck is an open-air garage looking directly on an expanse of sheep/cow-laden pastures, which is the Peggy Rockefeller Farm of the College of the Atlantic. Location is 10 min drive to Bar Harbor, and 5 min to Acadia National Park entrance.
The downstairs garage space is a perfect spot to drink coffee in the morning sun, enjoy the sun setting on the farm in the evening, play a couple games of ping pong. One can step right out onto a sizable lawn space which is a part of the 7-acre property. Plenty of room for frisbee, badminton, or just laying on the grass. Our garden is just a few paces away, another great place to chill and eat lunch at the picnic table. The apartment itself is complete with kitchen, washer/dryer, and a bathroom with claw-foot tub containing hand-held showering faucet.
Our neighborhood is really quite unique as far as Mount Desert Island goes: the rolling pastures offer serene, expansive views in the day, and a wide-open starry night sky. The ocean air rolls in from the cove at the end of Norway Drive, and one passes old farmhouses and the historic Stone Barn Farm- just at the bottom of the hill- on their way to town or the park. The property itself is large with space on all sides.

This cozy studio has the feeling of a secluded tiny house nestled off-street among ferns and flowers. A quiet location for a romantic getaway or a private retreat, you have your own kitchen with fridge, double hotplate, coffee & tea kettle, and a toaster oven. There is a spacious sleeping loft, however the center ridge line is only 5'6", so if you are quite tall you'll have to watch your head! You are welcome to use the adjacent patio and grill. The space has been totally remodeled in 2018. The kitchen and entry area feature high exposed ceilings and have a boathouse ambiance with the painted exposed walls. The exposed walls continue into the living room. The living room features an old stone hearth made from local Maine granite (no fireplace or woodstove). Refinished wooden floors. All new plumbing and electric. Air to air heat pump for heating and air conditioning. Equipped kitchen with granite countertops, microwave, full sized oven/range, refrigerator and dual sink. No dishwasher.
*The living and kitchen areas of the cottage are not insulated. Space heaters are provided for extra comfort during early spring and late fall when temperatures drop. Please prepare accordingly for slightly cooler than normal interior temperatures during these off peak times or seek alternate accommodation*
Trenton ME is the gateway city to Mount Desert Island. There are several small hotels and campground but most importantly the best selection of lobster restaurants in the area. Central location. Twenty minutes to Bar Harbor, fifteen minutes to Ellsworth (primary shopping destination for local area with Walmart, LLBean outlet etc)

Our home is close to the Bar Harbor town center, public transport, Acadia National Park, shops and nightlife. You’ll love our place because of the location and ambiance. It is near downtown but private and quiet with plenty of off street parking and a spacious garden. The space is great for couples, families (including kids), and big groups. 3 bedrooms plus additional sleeping futon in living room and sleeper sofa on the sunporch.
The property can accommodate 8 guests. Two queen beds are in the two downstairs bedrooms, with an additional stowaway bed that can be placed wherever preferred. The third bedroom is a loft on the 2nd floor with two twin beds. The living room contains a futon that pulls out to a double bed as well as a futon chair that can pull out into a single bed (with ottoman). The sunroom contains a sleeper sofa.
The garden contains a grill that you can use, as well as outdoor seating, adding to the many ways you can enjoy the house and make yourself comfortable while you are here. We hope to have the opportunity to host you!

A Hannaford élelmiszerboltja pár háztömbnyire fekszik, 2 macska kávézó (erősen ajánlott) szomszédos távolságra van a szomszédságban, a bálnaórák körutazásainak dokkolója pedig 5 mérföld, köztük sok más étterem és üzlet. Richard helye csak tökéletes volt a 3 idős házaspár csoportunk számára. Kényelmes ágyak, jól felszerelt konyha és egy teljesen kedves privát kerthelyiség, amely nagyszerű volt a reggeli kávé és az éjszakai csillagászáshoz. Ideális időjárás volt az augusztus első hetében 5 napos tartózkodásunkhoz, és luncokat és púpos bálnákat láttunk !!

Bar Harbor’s waterfront, our downtown, Bar Island, and the Island Explorer Bus service are only a few blocks away. The Explorer provides free access to many parts of Acadia National Park. Huckleberry is available by the week, June - September with a Saturday check in. October - May, our Town requires a 5 day minimum stay.
Huckleberry is a 2nd floor apartment on a quiet residential cul-de-sac. The stairs take you into a fully equipped kitchen which has a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. Next, is the open plan living/dinning room. The sofa is a queen size futon with a comfortable mattress. The bedroom has a queen size bed, a dresser, and closet. There is a folding single bed available. Amenities include cable TV in the living room and bedroom, Wifi internet, games, crafts, books, an ironing board and iron, hair drier, child's booster seat, and towels for the beach. The bathroom has a shower, sink, toilet, washer, and dryer. There is a small second floor deck off the back door with stairs into the backyard.
Your neighbors on this little street are year round working people who need their sleep, so please be respectful and quiet after 10:00 pm. When walking into the driveway late at night, please talk quietly.

Bike less than three miles to see the sunset and picnic by the ocean. Ride the carriage trails to swim at Seal Cove and Long ponds and to hike up the western mountains.
Take a short drive to the villages of Southwest and Bass Harbor for fresh seafood and nighttime entertainment. Even enjoy avant-garde theater in a rustic barn by the sea.
This Yurt is built of split maple poles. There is a skylight in the center of the roof to let in the morning sun. There is a loft made from an arched cedar log, a full sized bed, a sink, counter and shelves.
Our tiny homes are sheltered in a quite
mossy woodland. Just a mile walk from our land is a lake with wonderful swimming and fishing and the trailhead up the western mountains of Acadia. Take a two and a half mile bike ride in the opposite direction and you'll find yourself at a beautiful picnic spot by the ocean, the perfect place to enjoy a lobster bake as you watch the sun set. If you want to buy a boiled lobster on the docks, go to Thurstons restaurant just 6 miles away!

This fun little cabin is newly renovated. It's wonderfully cozy in the Spring or Fall and breezy in the Summer. Close to Carriage roads to bike, lakes to swim, and mountains to hike.
You have over 3 acres to yourself! This lovely cabin is self check in within a residential community, very quiet and family friendly. You have a BBQ to enjoy outdoor cooking. Everything you need for a peaceful family getaway.

This is a very quiet residential neighborhood with a road association full of many lovely families. There is a a small public pond just down the road for canoeing, fishing. A perfect local swim lake is just a few miles away.
From mid June to mid October the free Island Explorer will take you all over the Island. Just a 2 miles away from our home is a pick up at the Town Hill market where you can grab sandwiches and ice cream while you wait. Buses come every 30 minutes or so.

Our favorite restaurants are McKay's in Bar Harbor or Red Sky in Southwest. Antique and Thuya Gardens are a MUST (and free). Ship Harbor is a beautiful walk with the Bass Harbor light house nearby. The Ocean Path along the Bar Harbor coast is stunning. Our favorite hikes are in Northeast Harbor area and we would love to give you tips on where to hike and swim…just ask! We are here for you if you need us!

On a pristine deep fresh water lake (the park does not allow speed boats or jet skis so there are no boats buzzing or water ski waves), among the trees, bordering Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, which is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Neighbors include Loons, Ducks, Turtles, Fish, Squirrels and a very nice human couple to the north. Located on the road south to Southwest Harbor. Also close to Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Seal Harbor, and Bass Harbor. All quaint little fishing and lobstering villages. No high speed boats or jet skis are allowed on the lake so it is very nice and the deck very private. You are within earshot of the road.
