Lindsay's place is modern, clean, tidy, and situated in a beautiful part of the New Forest. Perfect for exploring the area. Facilities were great and Lindsay left food for breakfast and hot drinks. Lindsay herself is a wonderful host. Great communication and very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Beautiful location in the centre of the stunning new forest, and a lovely clean comfortable flat. We were greeted with kindness and were given total privacy for our stay except when we asked for help, and then great advice was given! 2 brilliant pubs nearby which we walked to for dinner on our first night and for a sunny pint on the second, world highly reccomend both! Our stay was absolutely magic. We had the chance to escape the noise and stress from hard working life style and really appreciated the wildlife and gorgeous setting. It is so amazingly quiet that we had perfect quality sleep. Thank you so much for being that welcome and helping.David and Lindsay are very friendly and helping. An absolutely amazing place to stay and unwind. Off the busy traffic but not far away at all from local towns, spas and walks in the Forrest. The Forrest is right around the house and just continues with beautiful settings and walk paths. We recommend to travel with a car which is not a problem at all. Just perfect! And we are looking forward to come back and see more of the surrounding.

Lindsay place is peeerfect. I really loved it! I stayed with my boyfriend for a couple of days. We hire some bikes and went around New Forest. The apartment is excellent. Everything seems very new, organised and super clean. Yo can buy some things in the farm shop that is almost outside (eggs, milk, stakes, veggies, etc) they also provided us with some eggs, toasts, milk and juice. I recommend it 100%. Perfect for getting lost in New Forest.

We've just got home after a long weekend staying with David and Lindsay. We booked this place as a base for my husband and I to walk and cycle through the new forest. There is a signposted official New Forest cycle track which runs right past the house. We would love to have stayed longer as we feel we only scratched the surface of the official and unofficial cycle tracks within cycling distance of the finches. The room/apartment was immaculate, warm and very comfortable. The shower was very powerful and great for massaging away the aches after a ride on the bikes. There is a campsite neighbouring the property (at Acres Down Farm) which means that there is a small farm/camp shop which sells lots of meats, jams and chutneys made/grown at the farm. (As well as cream teas) The farm shop was a little disappointing when it came to a good selection of fruit and vegetables. We walked to 'The Trusty Servant' at Minstead (22 mins walk) which served us a top quality meal, which represented great value for money. Lindsay and David were a great host and very communicative. When they found out we planned to go cycling they made sure that their information booklet contained lots of information about cycle routes we could do through the forest. The apartment is very well kitted out with ironing board & Iron, wifi, microwave, 4-hob stove, oven/grill, hair drier, TV, fridge (with small freezer compartment), dishwasher. We did cook a meal we had brought with us, but would have struggled to cook anything other than a simple meal from scratch or heat up a ready meal. (Only 1 saucepan and a small frying pan in the kitchen!) Lindsay kindly stocked the fridge with milk, orange juice, eggs, butter, jam, bread and pain au chocolat. If you are planning to go walking or cycling in the new forest, we highly recommend staying here.

We stayed at the The Finches for three nights and we throughly enjoyed ourselves . We found it to be good value for money, very clean and tidy, and Lindsay & David had thought of everything we would need within the apartment. The place was idyllic and exactly what we wanted for our first time in the New Forest. The apartment was in the heart of the Forest but came fully equipped. The apartment allowed me and my fiancé just the right amount of privacy while still being close enough to Lindsay and David who were helpful and friendly if we needed them. My first time trying Airbnb but I enjoyed it so much that I will definitely be going to them first when choosing a place to stay when we are next away.

We had a fabulous trip to the new forest. The home is well kept and everything that we could possibly need for our baby was provided which we were most grateful for! It was easy to find and as described. The setting is amazing and plenty to do nearby.

The cottage was absolutely perfect for a the long weekend. The peace and quiet of the New Forest makes it a great place to escape to from London. Claudia made it feel really homely with a welcome pack and numerous things my little nephew (who is 2 years old). We were really lucky with the weather and the location of the cottage makes it great base to explore from. We will definitely be heading back soon!

It was a wonderful experience staying at the cottage! Very comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen for cooking, and spacious rooms. Loved being secluded in the quiet forest!

It is a sweet little cottage in a great location which is very quiet. The beds were very comfy and the host provided some kitchen basics and a bottle of fizz which was appreciated. The outside seating area would benefit from a bit of a spruce up. There were a few kitchen items missing which were replaced quickly on request. Communication was very easy from booking through our stay. Overall we had a lovely stay with our two young children.

The barn itself is a fabulous place to spend a night, we could not wish for anything more. Liz and David were wonderful hosts and did everything to make us feel welcome and happy. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!

What a fabulous little place for a romantic getaway! Perfectly positioned with the forest on your doorstep and a wonderful pub a short walk away, serving fab food. Liz was a wonderful host even offering to pick us up from the pub after our night out! Would highly recommend to anyone and already planning a return visit.

We loved this place - it does, as described, feel just like sleeping in the middle of the woods. It was clean and comfortable and our children absolutely loved their beds up the ladder in the loft space. The room was very well kitted out and the continental breakfast was delicious. Jacqui was a very helpful host, and gave us lots of great advice about beaches to visit etc. There was a minor problem with the water heating, but Jacqui and her husband were very quick to respond and sort it out when we called them. We will definitely be visiting again!

Great host and great stay. Since the place had just opened, there were some teething problems, however they always tried to make a plan and accommodate us. Would definitely recommend!

Nick & Fi were such accommodating hosts, happy to cater to our dietary needs and make suggestions about where to walk, things to do. The house was beautiful and set in a fantastic location (with a gorgeous doggy to top it all off). Breakfasts were delicious too! Had a a wonderful time.

Nick & Fi are nice & friendly hosts. They helped me to find a running route & there were some nice little extras like After Eight mints put in the room in the evening! Fi can be quite chatty if you like a conversation!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was cosy and very comfortable. The bathroom across the hall was immaculate and the large bathtub a real plus. Our hosts were lovely and made us feel at home. We had some nice conversations over breakfast (which was very tasty) and they were able to recommend things to do and see in the area. Their house is set in a beautiful, tranquil location. The perfect rural getaway :)

It was lovely to meet Fi and Nick, who immediately made us feel at home by offering us tea and biscuits along with great conversation. Their home and surrounding area is gorgeous, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of city life, for venturing into the New Forest and experiencing real Britishness. There are also plenty of lovely places to eat and drink in the local towns and villages. Fi really knows a thing or two about cooking too - the breakfast was perfect. We wish we could have stayed for longer, one night was not long enough!

The house is beautiful, and is like a home away from home. We went with our teenage kids and dogs and had a great time cycling from the cottage through the forest. We cooked for ourselves more than usual on a break, and all the facilities were top notch - often better than we have had home - which made it a pleasure. Maria was very helpful and welcoming and we were confident that any problems would be dealt with happily - there weren't any. Thank you

Our stay at Acorn Cottage was a Mary Poppins holiday-practically perfect in every way! The house is fully kitted out with everything a young family could need-travel cot, high chair, children's cutlery/plates with a beautiful play room full of toys and story books. The cottage itself is beautiful with everything you need to self cater in style. Maria was the perfect host-ensuring she had everything set up for us before we arrived and making us feel at home as soon as we walked through the door. The present for our little boy was so thoughtful and the homemade cupcakes were delicious! To top it all we were greeted by 2 new forest ponies standing outside the drive as we arrived! The garden is beautiful -I was nervous about having a pond in the garden as our son is 2 and loves playing outside but the pond is securely fenced off with a padlocked gate so we could choose when to access that area. We saw such a variety of bird species feasting at the bird table every day. The cottage is just a few minutes walk from a picturesque pub with great staff and lovely food. Fantastic holiday and we are already planning our next visit!

Maria is a wonderful host, as is the cottage and location. If your looking for a break away from it all for cycling, walking or seeing the new forest, acorn cottage is for you.

Wow what a property. We stayed here with the family and my 16 month old son. Very child friendly from the gated area in the back garden to the cute toy room with toys for my son to play with. The cottage was immaculate and homely. Loved watching the birds at the bird table at breakfast too. New forest horses and bike tracks right outside the door.... it really was a great holiday. Maria was a fabulous host and we hope to be back again soon.

Absolutely lovely place to stay in the New Forest with access to Open Forest just a few footsteps away. The house is stylishly kitted out without it feeling so precious that you are scared to put a cup out of place. Huge outdoor space and lots of thoughtful playthings for little ones - my 5 and 3 yo girls happily and safely entertained themselves.

Beautiful location. Beautiful house. Wonderful stay and supremely relaxing. Great jumping off point for the whole of the new forest or a great place for some quiet time and a getaway from busy life. Can't wait to go back.

Heidi was a great host. She left us breakfast food and gave us a suggestion for a lovely walk. The house was cosy and perfect for our needs. The nearby pub served good food, as did the village shop/tea room. We would stay there again!

My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights over the weekend to try and see the pannage (when pigs are allowed to roam in the new forest). Heidi was very welcoming and the hideaway was very comfortable and exactly matched the pictures. Minstead is a nice little village and the Trusted Servant pub (opposite) is very welcoming. They do great food, and even laid on a vegan special for us (though I suggest you call ahead as it's not normally on the menu). We unfortunately didn't see any pigs, but that just means we'll have to come back and stay again!

This is a lovely hideaway, hence its name. We stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The set up was ideal for us and had all of the basics we needed to self cater. We didn't meet Heidi but Corin was very helpful and informative.

Gorgeous cottage in a perfect new forest location. Pub 1 min walk with great outdoor area for the kids. 10 min walk into lyndhurst but still felt very secluded on the edge of the forest. Host went out of their way to be helpful.

Jude was extremely helpful and communicative throughout our booking and stay, if we were to stay in the New Forest again we'd almost definitely stay in her beautiful cottage again.

The Cottage is nice and spacious and the outside garden area is lovely for children. The kitchen is modern and well equipped. All rooms, in fact, have lovely furniture. Bedrooms are a nice size and the beds themselves very comfortable. Easy to fit a cot bed in too, which Jude provides. It's only a 10-minute stroll into Lyndhurst and is central for visiting lots of places within the New Forest as well as the Beach. It's a perfect family holiday cottage. By far the best place we've stayed at using airbnb.

Idyllic is an understatement. This cottage is an absolute gem of a place. It really is the cottage that you see on the postcards depicting the New Forest. It looks great on the outside but is even better on the inside. Recently done up to a very high spec. Stunning interior, really well equipped with all mod cons including Sky TV and WiFi etc. You get a wet room with a power shower. Great kitchen and lovely bedrooms. Easy walk to the middle of Lyndhurst. Had a lovely meal and friendly welcome in The Swan just around the corner. Kid and dog friendly. Lastly, Jude is a brilliant host. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble and the check in was very easy. We'll definitely be back and I'd highly recommend this place. 5 stars is not enough.

My friends & I had an amazingly relaxed & comfortable stay. It's a beautiful home in a picture perfect setting. Paul was an attentive host & even set the log burner up for us before he left. My friends & I were all very sad to leave and I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here. 2 nights was not long enough & I'll be back!

As soon as we arrived at the house Paul was there to welcome us and run through all the details which was really appreciated, including the little welcome gift! The house itself is stunning and definitely five star. It's been beautifully restored with really high quality fittings and stylish touches that gave the feeling of a boutique hotel stay. The location in the New Forest is perfect, just 10 minutes from the motorway but you feel you're completely in the middle of nowhere, just so relaxing! We all loved it so much we're rebooking for another stay this year!

Our family had an absolutely fantastic time at The Old Sir Walter Tyrrell! Paul met us at the house and was relaxed and friendly, and proceeded to show us round their stunning house. Surrounded by secluded woodland through which deer step every evening, coming right up to the house (along with ponies and cows!), the setting is perfect, and the peace and beauty continue within. Furnishings are very well chosen and exude style and comfort, and the plush bathrooms are to die for. We numbered 8 adults and 1 toddler, and the space for cooking/eating/relaxing together was just right. Two dishwashers and the fact that all utensils are dishwasher-safe made clearing up much less of a chore. We're already planning our next trip back!

Lovely house for a relaxing weekend in beautiful countryside.

Paul was kind enough to let us use his lovely house as a shooting location for our short film. The interiors are stunning and the property is placed in the beautiful scenery of New Forest. The whole experience was great and Paul was a great host. Highly recommend to anybody looking for a peaceful and quiet stay with beautiful views.

Lovely house in a great location

As a group of four couples we spent a fantastic Easter weekend at the Old Sir Walter Tyrell House. After a longer drive down from London than expected, owing to bank holiday traffic, we were incredibly grateful to Paul who had met our supermarket delivery and kindly put items away in the fridge for us. The open plan downstairs was perfect for our sociable group and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking big meals. The two dishwashers were really useful and made for a more relaxing weekend. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms are incredibly well decorated and make you feel like you are staying in a luxury hotel. The location is fantastic for a long weekend with good walks to local pubs from the house and horse riding and cycling nearby. We even had New Forest ponies coming right up to the house to say hello! On the Saturday night we had booked into The Pig for dinner after a recommendation from Paul. We had a really wonderful meal and would recommend it to anyone who stays at the house who fancies a special meal with local produce in a beautiful dining room. We would also really recommend staying here and would love to come back.
