Secure a comfy armchair by the windows, order a coffee, grab the ‘papers and it’s a delightful spot for watching the comings and goings at the heart of this traditional farming community.
Food is served at lunchtimes until 3pm and in the evenings from 6pm to 9pm Sunday – Thursday and all day Saturday and Sunday. The menu offers something for everyone: from artisan pizzas and tapas-style nibbles to a three-course Sunday roast.

When the current owner, born and bred Lakelander, Richard Rose renovated the then dilapidated building in 2005, he restored all the original features, including the ancient oak beams, traditional fireplaces and Westmorland flagged floors. In the years to come Richard and his team created what became ‘Cumbria’s Original Gastro Pub’ with national recognition.
