Coffy Cafe is really the only spot I can think of in Columbia Heights that serves crêpes, so it has become our go-to spot for some delicious butter and sugar and Nutella crêpes. There's plenty of cozy seating inside and it's unique 60s themed vibe distinguishes itself from other cafes in the area.

Really amazing and authentic Thai food in a beautiful setting. You'll typically need a reservation, and they have a prefix menu, which changes everyday. You can request vegetarian and BYOB. We have a lot of good Thai food in DC, but locals get excited most about this place.

You might be surprised to learn that Washington, DC is home to the largest urban park in the U.S. It is stunning, and a great place to hike, run, or go for a bike ride.

Meridian Hill Park (also known as Malcolm X Park among locals) is a pretty, urban park - great for a picnic or a stroll. On Sunday afternoons in the spring and summer, be sure to check out the drum circle, a local must-see where you'll hear some talented local musicians and catch some of the best people watching in the city.

This is an eclectic and bookstore with an interesting and unusual selection of books. It also has a bar and restaurant, so is a fun and casual place to hang out and grab a drink or bite to eat after browsing the book selection. It's located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, so not quite walking distance from the apartment, but you can get there by metro or Uber.
