Cool beer spot, biking distance from our place. If you get there early enough, there's an Hawaiian food cart and a taco food cart (around the corner) that are worth getting food from, and you can bring the food to the outdoor seating at the brewery!

Very affordable but nonetheless delicious BBQ food cart. Their ribs and pulled pork are SO GOOD. Our favorites are the rib plate and the grits bowl with pulled pork...yum!
Also, in the same (very small) food cart pod, there's a really nice beer cart, that always have a nice, creative selection!

VERY BIG food cart pod, with lots of choices. Probably not our favorite food, but it's cool to try it out. There are covered/heated seating, some with cute fires also, and big tables, good for groups.

Sightseeing
Very nice park with beach, to go swimming, for a pic-nic, or just enjoy the view. You can reach it from our place by bike, through the Spring Water Corridor, it's a really nice ride, maybe 15min distance?
Check-out the big urban park that is just past the railroad, going towards Sellwood.

Cute garden with a pond and lots of Rhododendrons. The best time to go is end of april April/early May because of the blooming, Mondays are free entrance and so is winter time, so it's still nice to go in winter, to see something new.

Awesome spot for hikes, very close to the city - just about 15min driving from us. Tons and tons of trails, nice in summer and winter, but be warned, it can get muddy with the rains.

Kind of touristy but beautiful nonetheless. There are many attractions here: the zoo, the rose and Japanese gardens, a couple of museums, archery, trails for hiking and beautiful views of the city from up above.

About 40min. driving from us you can find a series of beautiful falls. If you come in summertime, I would recommend you park the car at either Horsetail Falls or at Bridal Veil Falls and take the Sasquach Shuttle ($10/person for the day, hop-on, hop-off) around, to avoid parking issues, and also to enjoy your experience a bit better too.
If you go, don't forget to visit the Vista House on the way out or back, it has some GORGEOUS views over the Columbia river.

About 40min. driving from us you can find a series of beautiful falls. If you come in summertime, I would recommend you park the car at either Horsetail Falls or at Bridal Veil Falls and take the Sasquach Shuttle ($10/person for the day, hop-on, hop-off) around, to avoid parking issues, and also to enjoy your experience a bit better too.
If you go, don't forget to visit the Vista House on the way out or back, it has some GORGEOUS views over the Columbia river.
During summer there's a lot of trails around here, and during winter, is a good place to go skiing, snowboarding or sledding!
Only about 1.20hrs away from us ;)

Beautiful spot on the coast, wether it's winter or summer. We personally love Indian's Beach, inside the State Park. You can get there by car or hike to it!

Very nice spot for a pic-nic along the Columbia river. Dog and family friendly. Lots of room to play games in the yard and spend an day outside, grilling and enjoying the views. The beach is nudist beach, so be aware.

A beautiful, family-friendly neighborhood on the Willamette river. Plenty of cute restaurants, shops, most of which are small, locally-owned businesses. Be worn, most restaurants close between 8 and 9pm.
Sellwood can be reached by bike from our place, in just 10/15min.

A beautiful, family-friendly neighborhood on the Willamette river. Plenty of cute restaurants, shops, most of which are small, locally-owned businesses. Be worn, most restaurants close between 8 and 9pm.

Hawthorne, Division, and Belmont are three roads in SE Portland that have plenty of shops and restaurants worth exploring.

Another cute area, in the NE of Portland, particularly on Mississippi Ave. This is called the Arts District, so prepare yourself for some originality!

We don't particularly love downtown, but the Pearl District, 21st and 23rd ave are worth visiting if you like the more urban-side of a city.

Cute town East of Portland, right on the Columbia river. There's always lots of wind on the river in that area, so you'll see many windsurfers, kitesurfers, etc.
Highly recommended there is Okalani, an AMAZING (and very fairly priced) sushi spot, and the Pfriem brewery. If you're there in summer, ask for their Wit beer (not hoppy, light but very tasty!).

If you feel up for an adventure, go rafting on the White Salmon River. We did the whole day trip, and had such a good time! The water is cold, so I would say, prime time would be June/July, maybe August if you're lucky with the water levels.
