Best view for lunch. Sometimes nice lunch specials. But it's all about the view here. Food is "meh" but the location is amazing.

Undoubtably one of the nicer restaurants. Right on the waterfront in the beautiful Harbor Village complex. You must make reservations in advance for lunch and dinner. We always go here for very special occasions. The staff are friendly, the service is slowly paced and the bartenders make incredible cocktails. Go early to enjoy a great happy hour. Ask for waterfront seating when the sun goes down. Lots of fish friends come to visit the lights under the restaurant.

Rincon is the oldest settlement on Bonaire. Walk the streets and immerse yourself in the past. Lots of town folks cooking out of their homes or making ice creams or drinks. Stop, say hello and have a chat. Folks are super friendly and love to share stories of days gone by. Cadushy can be found in the center of town.

Water

Bonaire water is perfect to drink right from the tap. Fill your water bottles and avoid plastic one time use bottles. Make sure to take plenty of water with you when out and about. Even though the wind can sometimes make you feel cool, de-hydration can hit you quickly. And if you're out exploring the kunuku, there are no pit stops to refill.

Say Bondia!

When driving out on the back roads and you come across a person walking, biking or pass a car, it is customary to wave! Just say "Bondia"

Entering a shop/store

It is customary, that when you enter a shop or store, you call out "Bondia, Bontardi or Bon nochi" as you enter. This is actually a Caribbean wide cultural norm found throughout the island chain from Bahamas to Trinidad and includes the ABC islands. Caribbean folks presume if you enter without a greeting first, you were raised poorly and therefore do not deserve their respect. Think of it as if you are visiting their house. You would never enter someone's house without greeting them at the door.

Recycling

You will find recycling stations at several locations around the island. The closest is located at the Hato Supermarket across from the big water tanks. Please use these facilities. It is also appreciated that "if" you come across litter on your footpath, please pick it up and dispose of it properly. It's to all our benefit if we "pitch in "

AIRCO

Most of our electricity is produced by using diesel generators as is the water production of the de-salinization plant. Needless to say but please turn off airco's, fans, lights when leaving the apartment. It only takes a few moments for the room to cool down once turned on. Sincerest thanks in advance.
