The winery sits on the river where you can swim for kayak. They usually have live music on the weekends. Awesome place!

Watauga Lake might be our favorite place on earth. Just a short drive and you will see for yourself! There are multiple marinas around the lake where you can rent pontoon boats or kayaks for the day. The majority of the lake is surrounded by national forest.

Located in Damascus (30 minute drive), the Virginia Creeper National Recreation Trail is a 34.3-mile rail-to-recreation trail, traversing through two counties from Abingdon, Virginia, through Damascus, and ending just past Whitetop Station in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, at the Virginia-North Carolina border. There are multiple outfitters in the area to rent bikes and get a shuttle.
