City/town information

Welcome to Shrewsbury! It's a lovely market town which is encircled by the River Severn. To float down to Shrewsbury in the Summer, I'd recommend hiring a canoe at Montford Bridge, just South of town, and paddling down to Shrewsbury. Visit the Market Hall, in the centre of town for all the local manufacturers and producers. For great restaurants, try the Armoury on the edge of the Quarry park, or try Ale y Ole, right on the other side of the Welsh Bridge, in Frankwell.

Bus stations

There is a bus station at the end of the private driveway at Berwick House. You can walk into town from Berwick, but I'd advise against it, particularly in the dark. Berwick Road can get busy and cars drive very fast. Parking can be tricky in town, the NCP car park at Wyle Cop is the best and easiest place to leave your car for the day. Cycling is hugely popular in Shrewsbury! The further North you go, the hillier it gets. The further south, the flatter it gets. Just be careful to avoid tractors or heavy machinery when cycling and always wear visible clothing, lights, and a helmet.

Bring hiking boots!

Shrewsbury outskirts can get muddy, as Shropshire can be quite rural. Bring hiking boots, as you may need them. Bring slippers or comfortable shoes also for roaming Berwick House and the Parkland. The tiling can get cold in the Winter!

The Farmers Market

Every Saturday morning the Farmers Market happens in the Market Square. You may spot the Barkers who raise Longhorn beef on the Berwick Estate. Say hi to Sam and Claire!

Blind Tiger

The Blind Tiger is a hugely popular cocktail bar. The staff are super friendly and the cocktails are eclectic and varied. All very tasty. Laid back vibe. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g186368-d7039254-Reviews-Blind_Tiger-Shrewsbury_Shropshire_England.html

Avoid The Butter Market Club & Fever Club

Shrewsbury is not renowned for it's nighclubs! If you like Drum and Bass, you may be in good company at the Butter Market. I would advise against going however - it's full of sketchy people and doesn't have a great reputation! Fever Nightclub is the same. Go to Blind Tiger for a good evening, or Alberts Shed at the top of the Quarry Park.

The Soden Collection in town has some great art

Shrewsbury Town has a huge amount of local business. From mobile ice cream trucks, to independent art galleries. I could list all of the really good ones, but it would take me so long to pick. They're all unique! The Shrewsbury Food Festival is a great way to learn more about local produce and it happens in Summer at the Quarry Park.
