You can purchase a pass and drive on this part of Carolina Beach. You definitely need a 4WD vehicle and plenty of clearance. You can rent Jeeps and purchase a day pass for a fun day fishing or chilling. Be prepared for crowds on weekends.

It's also more fun to say, "I'm running up to the Food Dog to grab some juice" I think. It's got pretty much anything you need, but it does get busy at peak times because it's the best thing on the island. You can also consider the Sea Merchant on Cape Fear Blvd for basics.
