Outdoor Exploring

Our favorite hiking, biking, fishing, and adventuring spots that are the “Outdoorsman’s Paradise.”
A short walk up (slightly steep) rock steps will lead you to the top of Backbone Rock where you can stand overtop of the road. At the bottom of the rock, there are wonderful spots to hang hammocks, a picnic shelter, and even outdoor campsite style grills for your enjoyment! This spot is a wonderful swimming hole but beware of copperheads that are commonly found in this area!

Grayson Highlands State Park has many great hiking trails! My personal favorite is Rhododendron Trail. Depending on what time of day you go, you are likely to encounter the wild ponies in the mountains! Be mindful that some are friendly but some do kick and bite!
