The Lakeside Hotel has several restaurants. I personally recommend the 2 AA Rosette dining experience - one of the most sublime meals I've ever had! If you're celebrating or splashing out, go here!

Ulverston is a nice market town located just outside the Lake District and is a 10 minute drive from our house. There is a small supermarket here as well as a number of independent shops and cafes.

Here you can hire self drive and row boats on the lake. Plenty of shops and cafes. You can get the ferry to the west side of the lake which is quieter and has plenty of walks.

Grizedale has great walking and mountain bike trails for all abilities. The Carron Crag walk is a favorite of ours. There is also a visitor centre, cafe and Go Ape.
