We love it because it is not only beautiful but it is also right across the street from our cottage! There are paved and gravel trails leading through the prairie, to the visitor center and to an overlook viewing the Mississippi River. When biking (or hiking) you can take the trails to county road ZN and then follow that (about a half of a mile) to a trailhead of the Great River State Park Trail.

Take a left on Z and then follow that until you see Lytle Road on your right. Turn right and go over the railroad tracks. You will see a small parking lot and the trail.

Riverside park offers wonderful views of the Mississippi River in downtown La Crosse and hosts several major events throughout the year. If you are visiting over the Fourth of July, consider visiting Riverfest for delicious food, music, shopping and many other festivities. If you are in town on a Thursday night in the summer check out Moontunes for live music at the park. In December, Riverside park hosts the famous rotary lights display. Riverside park is also a great place for a walk and a picnic lunch!
