In the state of Virginia, you have to have a full restaurant to have a full bar, so you can get the best of both.
Excellent southern cooking and a nice late night bar scene. Friendly crowd and not a college hangout. Ted, Lisa and Melanie will make you feel right at home. Bar snacks are delicious, and dinner is even better.

It's an upstairs space (with alternative outdoor patio seating) but the reason I love it is because of the live music- think gypsy guitars, flamenco, Tango, Latin guitar. The bar area is pretty small and it gets crowded, even on weeknights, especially when everyone in the place is dancing to the live music.
