(RECOMMENDATION) After a walk along the Kastanienallee and Mauerpark area, stop here for a drink or food. The very nice beer garden is surrounded by chestnut trees and there is also a small playground for the kids. In addition to the garden, they offer traditional German food in the restaurant.

This place is good for information but if you want to have "a feeling" about the Berlin history and the crime regime, add "Gedenkstätte Hohenschönhausen" to your list.

When you plan to know about the history of the Berlin Wall and Berlin, combine Hohenschönhausen with a visit at the Mauergedenkstätte Bernauer Str. - this is much better than the Checkpoint Charlie Museum.
