There's a cool little bush walk up to a waterfall on Glen Esk Road that's awesome. In summer you can swim at the base of the waterfall. It's only a 20 minute easy walk in.

This spot is a stunning place to watch the sun go down. Up over the hill at Maori Bay is the gannet colony and you can walk along the track to it and look down at the birds and chicks (August - March)

Muriwai Beach extends 60 kilometres to the north - a line of black sand between the thundering surf and the sand hills is a great place to walk and unwind. This spot is a stunning place to watch the sun go down. Up over the hill at Maori Bay is the gannet colony and you can walk along the track to it and look down at the birds and chicks (August - March)
