If you want an old-school pub come to the Golden Fleece. They don't even have a till. Your round is added up in the publican's head and can vary from one round to the next. It's a superb drinking spot. Not one for young families!

A fab family friendly cycle trail set on the old railway line (read gentle gradient) near Okehampton. At abut 5 miles from Okehampton you get to cycle over the Meldon reservoir (very high fences) where you can see the Meldon dam.

The Tarka is a fabulous family friendly cycle trail. You can hire bikes in Barnstaple or Great Torrington.

It's Devon's own Royal Horticultural Society garden. The gardens are beautiful year round but the best time to visit (in our opinion) is early autumn. A brilliant place to visit.

It's a great little wood (around 80 acres) right next door to Puddleduck Valley. There's badgers, deer and many different species of birds.

Once the site of Dunsland House, the manor house burnt t the ground in the 1960s after a fire. In the park are a few interesting points such as the medieval Cadiho well, the huge old trees & bee hives.

A brilliant spot to see a large dam, reservoir and the Meldon viaduct. It's also a great place as an entrance for wlaking on Dartmoor. Follow the east Okemont river for a brilliant picnic spot and opportunities for wild swimming

It's a great place for all manner of water sports from wind surfing to yachting. There's also an enormous dam and if you're really organised you can get a free tour inside the dam & hydro electric system by contacting South West Water.

This beach is stunning and brilliant for families - just be sure to visit when the tide isn't in. The rock formations are to die for, there are loads of rock pools and even a waterfall off the cliffs. The sea has lifeguards during the spring & summer and the waves are great for surfers & body boarding.
