Things to Do in the Area
Here's a quick list of some things to do and/or places to visit in the area!
Bandera is known as the Cowboy Capital! Visit and take a stroll down main street and enjoy some of the cute shops, boutiques, and restaurants. On the weekends, you might even spot a wild west show happening on the streets! We also highly recommend Bandera City Park, where you can swim or fish in the river, or have a riverside picnic! It's our favorite spot in Bandera!

This is our favorite swimming hole and picnic spot in the area. Free on weekdays and (I think) $5/pp on the weekends. For clear shallow water good for wading and for kids, drive down towards the end of the park for a fun swimming area!

This antique shop is fantastic and is such an interesting place to browse! Look for their pet pigs walking around outside or behind the desk. If you have time, stop in for a meal at Backyard Bistro behind the antique shop. So good!

Medina Lake Park is located about 10 minutes away from our house and offers great public access to the lake. There is a boat ramp, picnic areas, and plenty locations to fish from (likely swimming too).

This is a great place to spend time in nature--walking trails, an interesting and educational visitors center, and a beautiful creek for wading or for pictures. What makes this place even better? It's FREE! Explore Boerne a bit while you're in town!

If you're looking for something really close to the house, La Cabana has good Tex Mex. We love the queso! It's reasonably priced and its where you'll find many of the locals.

Again, if you're looking for something close to the house, this is a good option! They have good burgers and we're told they have good margaritas as well. They’ve started offering live music and have some great concerts on the weekends!

Nice outdoor dining on a pleasant day. A local favorite! So far we've only been once, but it was memorable and delicious. We recommend the Queso Fried Pork Chop. Wow! Or the sirloin. Great iced tea.

Longhorn Cafe has been our favorite burger since back when we were dating. They now have multiple locations in San Antonio as well as one in Boerne. (PS The Boerne location has a great outdoor seating as well as a huge play area for the kids.)
