This hike is about 2-3 miles away from our home. It is pretty mild especially in the beginning but has some great rock formations about 1/2 way up. At the top is a fire tower you can climb up for a better look but the view from the top of the mountain is amazing as well. We once saw a black bear casually walking up the path in front of us!
Spruce Mountain is a 4.3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Plainfield, Vermont that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from April until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

Coburn Road
Coburn RoadWalking along this road is the best way to enjoy all the local nature. You will pass two horse farms and several friendly neighbors. You are also walking alongside the river which means ducks, geese, herrings, deer and wildflowers. Although the road is quiet the occasional car will come flying around the corners so if with children keep them close by.

A great place to go if your not in a rush and you like to people watch! The food is yummy, but service can be slow. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich.
