The Three Cities can rightly claim to be the cradle of Maltese history, as Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua have provided a home and fortress to almost every people who settled on the Islands. Their harbour has been in use since Phoenician times. As the first home to the Knights of St. John, the Three Cities' palaces, churches, forts and bastions are far older than Valletta's.
Tip: Taking a ferry from Valletta to Three Cities is a nice way to see all the beauty from another perspective.

The beauty of Mdina has made it an important location in the Game of Thrones series.

Marsaxlokk is a village located about 13 kilometers south of La Valletta. It is the most important fishing port of the island and a good place where to taste the Maltese gastronomy. In this place you can see the luzzus, which are colourful traditional wooden boats painted or engraved pair of eyes on the front of the boat. These eyes, Eye of Orisis, are believed to protect from evil.
Tip: every Sunday, in the port there is a curious open-air market, highly recommended to visit.

Marsaxlokk
Marsaxlokk is a village located about 13 kilometers south of La Valletta. It is the most important fishing port of the island and a good place where to taste the Maltese gastronomy. In this place you can see the luzzus, which are colourful traditional wooden boats painted or engraved pair of eyes on the front of the boat. These eyes, Eye of Orisis, are believed to protect from evil.
Tip: every Sunday, in the port there is a curious open-air market, highly recommended to visit.
The Blue Grotto Malta is a number of sea caves on the southern coast of Malta. It is famous for the extraordinary sea reflections within the cave area where many tourists during the year come here on purpose.
This phenomenon creates very powerful blue tones that will leave you speechless. Do not miss this wonderful site, a special corner that you will not forget.
Tip: Combine this trip with the visit of Marsaxlokk. The boat trip is not amazing, but the views of the caves from above are like a dream!

This phenomenon creates very powerful blue tones that will leave you speechless. Do not miss this wonderful site, a special corner that you will not forget.
Tip: Combine this trip with the visit of Marsaxlokk. The boat trip is not amazing, but the views of the caves from above are like a dream!

You can also opt to book a day trip or tour with one of the boat tour operators that depart from Sliema. These trips normally let you stay 5-6 hours at the Blue Lagoon and sail around part of the island/caves, it costs around 30€.

There you can visit the Blue Hole (Dwejra), location once known for the Azure Window – a natural rock formation which sadly collapsed into the sea in March 2017. Also, the Citadel in the capital city of Gozo, Victoria, the view from the bastions is not simply breathtaking – it is incomparable to any other on the island. Buying pastizzi and eating them in the plaza called ‘It-Tokk’ is a tradition many locals follow religiously. And you should try it too.
Gozo has not yet suffered the tourist invasion, and is a paradise for diving, with transparent waters, cliffs, caves and spectacular seascapes.

Szent Péter medence

A visit to Popeye Village, which was the original film set of the musical production Popeye is surely a must on your what to do list in Malta. This is a great place to take your kids to meet world famous cartoon characters. Popeye village is situated just off Mellieha Bay, so it´s an excellent place to visit before, after, or whilst spending the day at the numerous beaches and coves around the area or just next door at the enclosed Anchor Bay which is equipped with sun beds, umbrellas, showers, bathing areas, splash pools and a small kids area.

Triq Tal-PrajjetA visit to Popeye Village, which was the original film set of the musical production Popeye is surely a must on your what to do list in Malta. Dingli cliffs, where the sky and sea meet, are the highest point of the Maltese Islands at around 253 metres above sea-level. The cliffs propose a majestic sight, particularly if viewed from a boat while cruising, but also from the top - the views are breathtaking.

Dingli Cliffs panoramic view
Dingli cliffs, where the sky and sea meet, are the highest point of the Maltese Islands at around 253 metres above sea-level. The cliffs propose a majestic sight, particularly if viewed from a boat while cruising, but also from the top - the views are breathtaking.
Tip: Walking along the Cliffs at sunset.
Neighborhoods
St. Julian's or San Giljan, is located on the Maltese coast, north of Valletta. Before, St. Julian's was just a small fishing village surrounding Balluta and Spinola bay, now it is mostly famous for its nightlife and touristic activity. This town is a hub for new and luxurious hotels, many different kinds of restaurants and trendy nightclubs, mostly centred in an area known as Paceville.
There are a good number of bars and restaurants in St. Julian's offering a variety of cuisines and atmospheres. You can also dance the night away in one of the numerous nightclubs around St. Julian's.
Spinola Bay is one of the most romantic bays in Malta; going up the hill, one can admire the little old chapel, Spinola palace, a number of typical Maltese town houses decorated with traditional windows, as well as arched boat houses on the quay. During the evening, the street lights reflect on the calm sea that is full of quaint fishermen’s boats.
Don´t forget to take a picture in the Love monument: This modern structure constructed out of Travertine was built with the intention that the word “LOVE” would be reflected in the calm waters of Spinola bay.
Walk along the promenade that stretches from St. Julian's all the way to Sliema, Gzira, Ta’ Xbiex and Msida, and enjoy breathtaking views of the sea, Marsamxett harbour and Valletta. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars along the way to keep you well fresh in the sunshine.
Visit Portomaso area, one of the poshest areas in Malta, Portomaso offers a number of shops with luxurious goods, high-class restaurants and a beautiful yacht marina
St George´s Bay, a small beach in the middle of the city and near the commercial area. This beach is very popular specially among the English students. Jump into the water just 2min away for the house!

St. Julian's or San Giljan, is located on the Maltese coast, north of Valletta. Absolutely our favourite in Malta! Getting down to the beach requires a descent of a tall flight of steps (over 100, but it’s the perfect place for a really chilled out afternoon of swimming and sunbathing and watching the clouds passing by. Red sand and clean water, is quiet and not very busy.
Tip: At “Singita Miracle beach” every sunset becomes an unforgettable moment. The Ritual of the Sunset is celebrated every evening in the very moment the red sky disappears behind the sea, you can also enjoy the Aperitif.

This is undoubtedly one of the most popular sandy beaches on the whole island of Malta, not only because of its extension but also because it is fully equipped for tourists. It is a good place to spend all day with your family, your friends or your partner!
Tip: On the weekends is very crowded, even if there is space to put the towel, you´ll struggle to come back home by bus/taxi. Better another day of the week 😊
