From Portland Rise, stroll 8-10 minutes south down Green Lanes and you'll find the entrance to Clissold Park. Fantastic for families, it has plenty of picnic space, a large children's playground, and some other attractions including terrapins in its lakes, sections of the new River, an aviary with assorted species as well as deer. Find the Clissold House cafe for an easy meal or hot drink and enjoy views over the area from an 18th century mansion house. Walk left out of the cafe, exit the park left onto Stoke Newington Church street and you'll find a huge selection of cafes, bakeries, green grocers, fish mongers, butchers and independent shops. Some of our favourites include the Spence Bakery, Rasa (South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant), and Rubedo (seasonal plates and natural wine). Life's good in Stokie!

From the flat, walk left onto Henry Road a short stroll, then left onto Alexandra Grove and cross at the lights into Finsbury Park - 110 acres of parkland that celebrated 150 years in 2019 as the "People's Park." Picnic spots, all sports (including American football), children's playgrounds for all ages & splash pad, a boating lake and a lovely cafe in the centre. For a great pub experience with a seemingly endless garden labyrinth above its premises, head to the Faltering Fullback - just beyond the cafe in Finsbury Park heading west, find the exit to the park onto a road called Gemel College, turn left onto Woodstock Road and quick right onto Perth Road for the pub. Head all the way upstairs and outside with a pint. The area around Finsbury Park / Stroud Green road is really changing and has a lot to offer in terms of vibrancy, cafes and food. The Park Theatre is great for a theatre play, Dotori has amazing Korean and Japanese Food and La Fabrica has wonderful tapas. The Blighty Cafe on Blackstock Road is a firm favourite for big breakfasts in our family, full English and fantastic vegetarian spreads. Enjoy!
