Historic town that will give you a taste of old Kauai. The most western bookstore is here as well as a swinging bridge and good local eats. They host a Friday night art walk that is fun to attend and good end to a trip to Waimea Canyon.

You can have an enjoyable time just driving up to the end of the paved road and working your way down. I suggest doing that because the lookouts at the top can get fogged in.

Gorgeous views and the start point for the Kalepa Ridge Trail or airplane trail. It is unofficial and located to the left of the chain link fence. You will see a trail that goes behind the fence and down the hill. For experienced hikers and may be closed.
