Llansteffan is peaceful, the views are lovely, the beach is good for a walk or a sunbathe, the walk up to the castle is pleasant, the views from the castle are stunning. There is a walk around the cliffs to Scott's Bay, a secluded part of the estuary, or a further walk takes you around a wooded point with views of Laugharne.

This walk is on our doorstep. It is wooded, but with good viewpoints revealing extensive panoramas of South Wales. The cafe is good and popular. There are a series of short and long walks. It is good for blackberries, various wild flowers and has a visitor centre describing flora, fauna and historical details.

In my opinion, the perfect Welsh castle. The setting is romantic, the walk up is pleasant and not strenuous, the views are amazing, encompassing farmland and wild hills. I love taking a torch and waking under the depths of the castle to the spring. There is a walk from the castle around the hills and back to the castle car park, which is scenic and varied.

Ferryside is closer to us and quieter than Llansteffan on the other side of the estuary. The beach is good for quiet contemplation, walks and picnics, though not for swimming. There is a new ferry service over to Llansteffan, where you can visit the castle. There is a good fish and chip cafe in Ferryside,. athe coast towards Kidwelly offers quiet corners for a walk or picnic and a beautiful old church, St Ishmael's. There are often interesting birds on the estuary. It is fascinating and peaceful to watch the tide come in.

An amazing stretch of sand dunes and beach, any traces of stress will be blasted away. Soft sand, shells, good driftwood, fabulous views. You can walk miles, or not, as you wish. The Country Park is wooded and equally massive, you pay to go in, but can park anywhere and access the beach from multiple points. There is a cafe and very often activities in summer. You can swim, but there are often jellyfish.

Entertainment

The British Bird of Prey Centre. This is located in the National Botanic Garden of Wales. The displays take place in a lovely setting on a south-facing slope with good views. The birds are spellbinding, sometimes unpredictable, the accompanying talks are informative, you can fly a bird yourself, altogether a worthwhile experience.
This is a restored 1930s cinema. Films are shown on Friday, Monday and Tuesday nights, sometimes also on Saturdays and Sundays. You can buy sweets and popcorn and enjoy an old fashioned movie night at a beloved venue run by volunteers.
