United World College is part of an international school. The only U.S. campus is in Las Vegas, New Mexico! Located in a beautifully renovated "castle", this old hunting lodge was where Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders would hold their annual reunions for years. Guided tours are available during the summer months.
Also, located adjacent to the campus of United World College, The Dwan Light Sanctuary was built by New York art collector and philanthropist Virginia Dwan. Designed by New York and New Mexico artist Charles Ross, it serves as a non-denominational sanctuary for the international students at UWC and occasionally hosts music / dance and cultural events.

The Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge is located just beyond town at the beginning of the Great Plains. The refuge hosts migrating Canadian geese on their way to and from South America in the spring and fall seasons.
