The birdwatching here is excellent! Early Spring, the city hosts "Godwit Days" for viewing thousands of migrating Godwits.
This is a great place for short hikes and picnics. It also features the Arcata wastewater treatment plant, where water is ecologically cleaned and returned to the sea.
