This is a fun place for you to belly up to the bar, chat up the bartender - or the locals - while also getting some great beer options. They often have a cask beer option for the real enthusiasists. The live music is great as well, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
As for food, we are fans of the pizza, fish and chips, turkey Reuben, and the shepherd's pie and pasties.

A nice destination for road trip on the way back from Chatham. Harwich Port is another quaint Cape Cod village to visit.

Sightseeing
The Sandwich Marina and the Cape Cod Canal are must-sees while staying in Sandwich. This is a very active marina with lots of pleasure and commercial craft passing through. As an active marina, the marina offers sights of fish being unloaded, tug boats pushing barges, and large cruise ships passing through on their way to Nova Scotia or New York City. There are multiple eating and drinking options at the marina, including a new restaurant being constructed as of this writing in May 2016.

Open every day, the fish hatchery is where trout are raised to stock fresh water ponds in Massachusetts. Bring some quarters and buy some fish food and watch the trout jump for your food.

Parks & Nature
The world-famous Boardwalk Beach is very close to our home in Sandwich Village. The start of the boardwalk is half a mile away, with expansive views of the marsh, and easy access to the tidal river, which is a fun to float in at high tide!
There is a kid-friendly beach on the inlet side of the Boardwalk Beach, and just over the dunes is one of the amazing beaches of Cape Cod Bay. All of it is walkable from our home, and is completely accessible for people with mobility issues.
The boardwalk, the beach, and the marsh are amazing at all hours of the day.

Between the Sandwich Little League ballfields and the former Wing Elementary School at the corner of Beale Avenue and Route 130 is a fully equipped playground and jungle gym. Even better, there is a full sidewalk all the way from our house to the playground!

Another high quality restaurant option in Sandwich, the Pilot House has a great vibe, fun square bar in the middle of the main room, and an outdoor fire pit. The outdoor bar is very popular in the summer. Highly recommended destination.

The newest restaurant in town, Fishermen's View has a great location right on the canal and overseeing the working marina. It has quickly become a town favorite for both the food and the view. The restaurant has their own boats, so the food they serve was likely caught that morning!
At a separate entrance in the same building is Sandwich's best seafood market. The stuffed quahogs are yummy (get the spicy ones!), and get some lobsters to boil in the large lobster pots in your kitchen!
Also check out their outdoor bar, Sandie's. It has a smaller menu than the full restaurant, but it is still a fun place to hang out in the fresh air.
