About 25 minute drive from our house, but TOTALLY worth it. If you have kids, this is the place to be. They have a petting zoo, a train, tons of carnival games, a bounce pillow, puppet shows, and all kinds of farm fresh produce. Well worth the price if admission, especially with elementary aged kids. Check out the corn maze in the fall!

Lewis Farms & Petting Zoo

They have a petting zoo, a train, tons of carnival games, a bounce pillow, puppet shows, and all kinds of farm fresh produce. Well worth the price if admission, especially with elementary aged kids. Check out the corn maze in the fall!

If you're looking to take home a unique, handcrafted souvenir, this is a gift place to stop. 30 mins South of our house, this family has owned their studio for over 30 years. Many of the pieces are made with Michigan materials and motifs.

Though is a bit of a drive from our house, their ice cream is fantastic and the chocolate milk to die for. Really. I've never had better chocolate milk. I take it to friends as a housewarming gift! The farm tour is fun as well, especially for families.

I used to work here in High School and I can confirm that their sweet corn is the best in the county and is picked fresh each morning. Their SweeTango apples are delicious as well. (P.S. Their "Our Favorite Cooking Apples" are grown on the same trees, but they don't make grade to be called SweeTangos.

Definitely my favorite place to get ice cream in Pentwater. They have a lot of vintage candy as well and great popcorn mixes. The inside is decorated like a ski resort.

For anyone that wants to know the history of the county, this is the place to go! The OHS has been ranked as one of the best amateur Historical Societies in the nation and has a lovely little museum in Mears.

When people say, "go to your happy place", this is it for me. One of my favorite places in the world. I have a lot of memories here as a child, listening to spring peepers or playing Pooh sticks from the bridge.

This is definitely a gem that only the locals know about. You'll have to park on the side of the road and walk about a quarter mile, but the view is SO worth it. If you want to go, just ask for directions!

The last coal-powered car ferry that crosses Lake Michigan, the Badger is truly a historical relic. Even if you don't want to take a day trip to Wisconsin, it's fun to watch it pull in to port about six pm every night in the summer.

Park outside Charles Mears
if you don't have Michigan plates with a state park pass, you have to pay to get in. Instead, you can park along the street a few blocks back.

The gas station across the street isn't always the cheapest station in the county, but its prices stay consistent the longest and will often stay low after every other station has raised their prices.
They also have a deli and a few grocery supplies--though many of the items on the shelf are priced higher than normal!

Hansen's in Hart had a great wine selection and great deli. We often get the chicken dinner there and the find a place to picnic. Cheaper than eating out! The food is a little on the pricey side, but they have a lot of specialty items.
