This is probably my favorite restaurant. In 17 years I've never had a meal I didn't like there, and I'm a little picky. (Heavy alcohol pour--I always have them bring a side of cranberry with my Cosmopolitan, but a lot of people like the higher alcohol amount in their drinks, and they're kind of known for it.) Hearty New American fare served in an airy, early American farmhouse, plus atmospheric tavern. ( 1/2 mile from John Brewer House.) A little pricy for the area, but always great.

Southern BBQ in the Heart of New England. This is in Rowley, just 4.2 miles up the road on Rt. 1A (John Brewer House is on Rt. 1A--don't make a turn and you'll end up here!). The food here is very good. It was a little spicy for our taste, but I think most people who are looking for barbecue foods will expect that.
