Yummmmmm so good. Just so good. A delicious little eatery hidden in the hills behind Byron Bay. There's sushi but that's the tip of the iceberg...burgers, salads, etc. Anything your foodie heart could desire. it's also the perfect eatery after you've done the hike at Minyon falls because it's super close and you'll be starving.

New restaurant in Cabarita and so far, so delicious. The entrees menu is enough to stop in for, featuring what is arguably the best snapper "finger sandwich" that tastes like the posh grand-daddy of the filet-o-fish...in the best possible way. But there's more....the mixed drinks and mains are also pretty special.

Neighbourhoods

Kingscliff is a quiet town but the strip on Marine Parade is a busy restaurant and cafe scene with some shopping and the beach right across the road. Further south along Marine Parade, you've got Cudgen Creek which is the perfect water playground when the beach is blown out or a bit rough. Up the creek, closer to Cudgen Bridge the Watersports Guru parks himself most of the time and rents SUPs and kayaks at a reasonable price. There's a shopping centre off Pearl Street with a Woolworths, butcher, chemist and bottle shop.

Cabarita is a 5 minute drive up Tweed Coast Road from Casuarina and it's the closest alternative to our small neighbourhood shops. The beach here is amazing with two options on either side of the point. To the left of the point is Caba Cove - usually lots of great waves and where people sun bake and surf the most, however if that side is windy, Back Beach Caba will be perfect. Notable - Back Beach Caba is an off leash area so if you're in to dogs and/or have a dog, this is for you!

The Hastings Point creek and beach are a wonderful place to spend a morning or afternoon beach session, especially if the Casuarina local beach is blown out. You can pick a side of the creek to avoid the wind, paddle and float up or down the creek depending on which way the tide is running. Also a lovely place to kayak or SUP.

Casuarina heart centre is the beach and bike path that run the whole length of the suburb. If you bring anything on your holiday here, make sure it's your beach kit and a bike. We even have a few bikes you can use (by request) but I highly recommend you get amongst it, it's the easiest and most beautiful way to explore. Whether it's biking to Cabarita for pancakes in the morning or doing a beach walk to Salt Bar for a beer, late afternoon, the path is the real Casuarina Way.

For a cheap and easy day, you can get there early, do the light house walk, enjoy one of their iconic beaches, have lunch. Or if you're after more adventure, there's hang gliding, boat trips with dolphins, you can dive the wreck, all sorts. There are cheap eats or fancy restaurants, it's up to you.

The hike at Minyon Falls, in Nightcap National Park is fun for the whole family. If you're a serious hiker, you can do the longer loop that takes a few hours, but if you're just interested in getting to the falls, go the shorter distance and return the same way. If you time it right, you can get out of there for lunch at the Doma Cafe in Federal (on the main drag).

Fun times on Cudgen Creek and beyond! You can either visit The Guru at Cudgen Creek to rent a kayak or SUP...OR you can book an adventure with them. Kid Friendly Spots

- Park at Salt Resort - it's a good set up...there's a path way around a large field and the actual equipment is cool. There's a BBQ spot. Also at Salt Resort there's a pastry shop, a coffee shop, a gelati shop and a pub. The pub has an indoor play area if it's raining. You can bike there on the path or else drive. - The park at Cabarita Beach - it's just above the beach so if you come ready for the beach and for whatever reason, the waves/sun/tide is not suitable, the kids can play in the park - same thing - good equipment and a reasonable grassed area. There's also a covered BBQ spot.

Where to Get Petrol $$$$$

Try to avoid the BP at Chinderah on the south-bound exit. Usually over-priced and mega busy...but OK if you're also after MacDonalds. The Shell petrol station in Chinderah is usually cheaper and totally deserted. There's a petrol station in Kingscliff but only use it if you're desperate, it's also above the going rate. There are two petrol stations on either side of Hastings Point and they almost always have the same price point. The BP next to the North Star Caravan park has a slight advantage because they sell value fresh fruit & veg out the front
