Christianians have quite a relaxed "rasta" attitude towards life. They don't pay taxes (which is illegal) etc., even have a street named (and functioning as) “pusher street” - note the big rocks at the entrance... that's literally to keep police cars out - but this IS a really nice, alternative place, where locals often come to enjoy the atmosphere. In the summer, there are free concerts on Sundays. Take a walk down to the lake behind (maybe ask for guidance), where the houses (and kindergarten) are built literally by colorful garbage.
