Just across the street from the lodge, this popular destination features locally grown beef from Five Marys Farms. The Bacon Bourbon Burger is delicious, as is the Brussel's salad! This is also a bar/tavern and features live music from local bands on many Friday and Saturday nights - it'll be loud, busy, and service will be slow then, but it's fun and is in a unique historic building, likely built in the 1800's.

There are also a variety of local vendors selling products in their country store -arts, crafts, antiques, etc. Enjoy browsing or ask them to make you sandwiches to go while you explore the area!

Call ahead to make sure, as there are no other dining options there! Leave a signed dollar bill on the wall, as thousands of visitors have done before you! The drive is beautiful and they may have a live band on a weekend!

It's got a really great pioneer museum, an art gallery/store featuring local artists, bank, post office, and more. There's a charming Christmas parade and craft fair to enjoy if you're here during December.

Klamath National Forest - Hiking Trails, Lakes, Fishing, etc
If you'd like to explore some of the prettiest mountains around, Siskiyou County and the Klamath National Forest is a great place to do it. So many places within a half hour to an hour from the Little Elk Lodge. https://www.fs.usda.gov/klamath is a great place for ideas, information and maps. If you're looking for a high mountain lake with trout fishing that you can drive to, look up Kangaroo Lake. In our area, if you're a more serious hiker, we are blessed with access to the Marble Mountain Wilderness, the Russian Wilderness and Trinity Alps!

Sundays in a small town area are pretty quiet. You'll find many places aren't open on Sunday, so do your diligence ahead of time. The lodge features a full fridge and oven, if you want to bring a few things with you.

Watch for deer!
In this rural area, there is not much in the way of public transportation and you'll be driving your own vehicle. Watch carefully for deer and livestock, as there are plenty of deer around, especially in the early evenings. It's best to drive slower and keep your eyes open! This also an "open range" county, meaning cattle, horses or livestock on the road have right of way and you're responsible if you hit one.
