A great place for a picnic, or a short swim in the summer. There is a big playground, a pizzeria and ice cream place close by, public toilets are open in the summer. Walks around the lake are enjoyable no matter what the season is: cross the first bridge next to the railroad bridge to get to the other side of the lake and back (about 50 minutes walk in total).

From Dokuzentrum, you can take an enjoyable walk around Silbersee and up the hill "Silberbuck" made from WWII rubble. There is a nice view of the city from the top and a big playground in the park.

There is a bigger lake close by called Happurger See where you can stand up paddle. There is a restaurant and you can hike up to Hohler Fels for nice views.
